Dear brothers,

I plan to import solar water heater for my personal use and if it proves good, I can import more for business.

This unit shall cost around Dh 10 K plus shipmnet charges from Dubai.

I need to know if it is subject to any tax or free as it is solar?

I request your input.

Kind Regards

Dear Irfan,

Thanks but what is link on line to check duty if you kindly advise.

I doubt if back home, one unit can generate good heat to supply water for 6 washrooms and that too directly to Taps with out use of any geyser or its gas.

Learned comments are requested.

Solar water heaters are available for sale in big cities of Pakistan, at least in Lahore. Your best option may be to buy local or alternatively build one. Its not too difficult to build. Lots of simple plans available on internet.

If you import through proper route then as a tribute to your efforts to seek independence from oil mafia you would be slashed with custom duty, sales tax and withholding tax summing upto 60% of purchase price plus shipping.

One legal but complex route is to import under Free Trade Agreement with China. You would need origin certificate for reduced custom duty but would still have to pay sales and withholding taxes.
