Assalam-o-Alaiqum to all reader,
I know this is not Property related & would appreciate LRE Admin to leave it for few days for discussion. Thanks in advance.
I have been living in a country where Maghrib prayer / Iftar time in Summer (this year) is around 10pm and Sehri finishes at 3am approximately. So, total Roza/Fasting time is 19 hours long this Summer.
My question here is now that I have been going to Gym to keep myself fit or infact to loose any extra weight according to BMI (Body Mass Index) & Alhumdulillah, I'm on track & have lost bit weight & want to continue until I acheive my goal.
Insha-Allah, Ramadhan is just near on its way in 6 weeks time and need experts' advice how could I manage to keep on track by going to gym in Ramadhan.
Ofcourse, my priority is to have all Fast if Allah give me health but also want to keep the flow of exercise I'm doing but not sure how can I spend over an hour in Gym during Fast & even after Iftar, there isn't enough time for Gym due to Taravee.
Just to let you know my trainer is non-muslim & might not know to understand that we cannot eat/drink during Ramadhan. So, I'm confused to leave my exercise plan in Ramadhan & also not happy if I take 1 month break, I will put on the weight again which I don't want.
Please comments.
Thanks in advance. GYMLOVER1 replied on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 09:01 AM

AOA My fiend I have been diong gym for the last 18/20 years in ramdan AlhamduLillah. The best time is to go gym 1 1/2 hour before fast openining(Before Magrib). It is difficult to go and start but once you start you will feel good and even after magrb you will fell active. One thing keep in mind that in ramdan you may go three times a week, that would be sufficent. What ever i have mentioned it is my personal experience. You may contact if you need any assistance in this regard at my following e mail address:- Regards |

@Maqsood, Thanks for your reply. I was 92Kg when I started and Alhumdulillah, I'm 82Kg now after 4 months. I usually go to Gym thrice a week and spend most of my time with mix of three Cardio (25min Cross-Trainer, 15 min Treadmill & 15 Min Bike) with some Shoulder & Chest press. In total, I spend 90 minutes. So I started gradually 4 months ago & Alhumdulillah, I'm happy with it now because I have been putting on weight for the last couple of years when I eat eat & eat without calculating the amount of food needed for my body. My Issue is that Gym is in same building where I work and I start exercise right after I finish work and in Ramadhan, it will not be possible either I stay longer (3 hours) in the office just to wait till 90-100 minutes to Maghrib or come to home first and then go back to Gym which is about an hour journey each way and I don't think this will work. As per my above circumstances to keep myself on track to loose weight what I have been practicing on, please suggest: - what exercise I should continue - what exercise should I giveup during Ramadhan - what time should I start - How long should I spend for this exercise in the gym If you like to add more on above, please feel free. Thanks in advance. |

My dear friend, Ramadan itself is an exercise, will purify your sole as well as body. If your issue is to continue loosing weight than nothing to worry about. Your daily calory intake will be reduced than normal (avoid fatty foods like trans fats and sturated fats). 90 min workout per day will consume 12000 Cal in 30 days which is equal to 6 days routine food. Our one meal is usually more than 700 Cal, you will skip lunch by fasting, resulting reduction in your weight. Add little walk, will give you best fitness. Regards, |

I think the best time to go to Gym is before Maghrib Prayer. What about your diet during last 4 month's. You did Dieting as well? or you just continue with the normal diet and focus only on Gym? |
