Yes - possible if you have one of your immediate relative i.e. father, mother, sister, brother, son lives in the US and has US nationality. They can apply for your change of status while you are on visit visa there. For more details visit website USCIS.com

Although I do not live in the USA, but have some information as I have visited US many a time. Yes you can get immigration / green card while you are in the US on visit visa. I suggest you to visit website USCIS.com.
If you have your immediate relative i.e. father, mother, daughter, son or brother, then they can apply on your behalf for your change of status while you are in the US. The cost of first stage is US$ 420 and the relevant form is I-130. This procedure takes six months to complete formality if you have all the documents in hand especially birth certificate issued by NADRA and any other legal document showing proof of relationship who will sponsor you and will provide Affidavit of Support for you. Good luck!

Very often, one must return to his home country to change the US visa status. In other words, it is usually not allowed to do in the US. WHY? Because the US considers it dishonest to arrive on a tourist visa and then change to student visa, etc etc
