A non property querry, can someone suggest me a safe route to Dubai from Riyadh. I will appreciate if an attachment of the route highlighting all the road numbers is attached or sent to me via email. Thanks

There are two Routes
1. Kharj Road
2. National Highway
I went on Kharj road to Dubai and returned via the National Highway so can share both experiences.
From Riyadh to Dubai
Road use , kharj road
Experience was gud but little bit stressful drive as its almost 2 lane road (1 for coming other for going) which at times is bit dangerous as well
Threats or risk , if your car breaks down or any other emergency it will surely take sometime to reach help.
Fuel stations not very Frequent
Dubai to Riyadh....
Experience was excellent double road but you have to be ready to drive some 70 - 90 km more than the kharj road
Route = After the border ( Batha border) you have to take Highway # 85 and than to 522 which will merges on 40 ( Riyadh Dammam) Or u may continue on 522
Fuel stations as well a lot of side road support is available....
While going from Riyadh u must take the exit of Saad, Khurais
Dubai highway is E11......

Thanks for sharing your exp, would you pls elaborate on the national highway route and tell me which roads to take while going from riyadh. Like i stary from dammam Rd (Exit 8) and then....! Its my first journey and bit confused about the routes as the google shows and onwards to E11 which one of my friends told that its bit risky being a single trach :( He was telling me a route via Hofuf as well which was a bit lengthy.
@Tech - GPS always shows the shortest route which sometimes is not worthy to adopt. |

Its highway # 95 instead of 85, what you say.
The route i could figure out from your description is as follows, pls correct me where i go wrong:
Road 40 (dammam rd) - 522 (from janadriya junction) - 615 (near al ahsa)- 95 (near salwa) - upto saudi and uae border and the finally E11. |

There are two roads going to UAE border from Riadh as mentioned above by Ehtisham.
Riadh-Kharj-Batha road is shortest but single road and half of the road will be covered by sand most of the time also night driving is not safe due to camel movement.
Riadh-Damam-Hafouf-Batha road is good but you have to travel little extra (some 100 KM). Choose any of these and follow road signs, you can travel without GPS navigation also.
Dubai you might need GPS navigation.
I have traveled many times from UAE and Qatar to Riadh while going to Mecca. Post your email and I will send you some good roads information. |

Thanks for the help. Yes most of my friends have recommended Riyd-Hofuf-Batha route and as per my undestanding roads to follow should be like :
Road 40 (dammam rd) - 522 (from janadriya junction) - 615 (near al ahsa)- 95 (near salwa) - upto saudi (batha) and uae border ( al ghewfiat) and the finally E11.Pls correct if i have put any thing wrong, secondly if the roads nos that i have mentioned and the route is ok and the one on which you have been travelling quite often,...would it be easy for me to switch on from one road to another just looking at the sign boards or one need be very careful not to miss any junction for switching over between different road nos. Like passing thru hofuf and then shifting onto 615 and then onto 95 seems pretty complicated on the google :(

i used riaydh -kharaj- haras batha border,short road quality is good gas stations available from kharaj to batha single road with no traffic quality of the road is very good frequent gas stations but not that frequent only thing is needs good car - second option is silwa road [tareek silwa] 3-4 hours extra journey irecommend you to use 1 st option |

@Adeel, Riyadh - khraj has not been advised by many specially when travelling with family, i think an extra 90 km drive thru hafuf route is not a big deal while frequent gas stations and enough road side support is ensured. |
