Assalam-o-Alaikum all,

Hope everyone is fine and doing well. I am constructing my 8M house and my builder suggested me to go for RBC (Reinforced Brick cement) roof with 2 bricks in a square of steel.

His point was that 8M house has smaller spans room so there is no need to go for RCC roof.

Now we are done with roofing but I have observed following two problems in roof:

1) There are few patches in roof where bricks are not placed properly and are tilted. This means bricks are placed like this /\. Because of it concrete is not filled in between them and steel is visible there. Builder says it normally happens while pouring concrete and it does not effect strength of roof.

2) I have observed water seepage problem. Water drops from some places when excessive water is poured on roof. As per builder problem will get solved after flooring which includes brick ballast layer and concrete layer.

Can any experienced person tell me about severity of these two problems? Are these serious problems? If yes, what can I do now to fix them.

Thanks alot.

Not a big issue Plater and Floor will clear it, RBC is Common and Its strength is Not an issue with Short Span walls.Again exposed steel is also Common.
I dont Know why issue of Tilt Bricks came that can be due to improper Spread of Concrete while Filling some bricks might have fallen Down, Use Good Ratio cement for Palster.
Now when Bricks are also expensine I dont know How Difference in price it brings the Cost.
, As a matter many workers are expert only in RBC where level of concrete can easily determined to 4 Inches and width of Brick guide you.
Can someone tell what is Cost of RCC per 100 sq feet and what is of RBC with 2 Bricks, what is Cost of One Truck Margalla Bajri.
One advice is here if You Think that you gave Contract on very Competative rate than Market, Just tell Your thekedar that i shall give you 1 or 2 Lac as Good will if there are no Comlaints like this in future, this will help him to slow down the Process so that quality is maintained.

Leakage could also be because of spot light boxes/wiring pipes fitted into the roof concrete. It will go away with flooring or tiling the roof.

I agree with Habib, how days bricks are also expensive, so there is no difference in cost of RCC and RBC.

Use good ratio of cement to plaster the roof. hire top worker to plaster the roof.
