Salam Everyone,

Sorry posting a non property related post but I have experience of getting good advice from this forum earlier.

I have small business in Pakistan. There are four people working in that. Before one/two years the average profit was Rs. 10-20K, which gradually decreased and now it giving me a loss averaging 25K each month and it is really due to power supply.

I really don't want to close this business and reason is only there are four people whose household depends on this.

I can afford a loss and affording so far but how long ?

Now I plan to invest little bit more and get power problem sorted, where I need input from you people.

As I mentioned earlier there is very less margin of return so cannot afford to spend much money.

I want power for these items,

A. One Photocopier,
B. One/Two fans,
C. Two/Three Lights,
D. Two Computers at least (Possibility of buying laptops),
E. Occasionally a Printer.
F. DSL/Internet Modem.

Now some people saying install solar panels some in favour of buying a generator.

I am not sure how solar panels can be helpful and how much they cost.

If any of you have experience of this situation or have any other suggestion please reply here.

Kind Regards,
Ahmed

Assuming you are convinced on the idea of UPS, I suggest buy one from Makro/Metro. My experience was Systek was very bad. They told me it is now their policy to provide after sales support only if the UPS is brought to their office. And yes you will have to wait for power to come for the Photocopier.

Thanks for your replies, problem is there is no power so how to charge the batteries for UPS, currently we are having two hours per day/office timings.

There are two ups already in the office but these are not helpful. We plan not to use photocopier untill main power available and use printer/scanner/copier for any emergency copy needs.

Really need at least two computers with internet during all office timings. The staff in office keep insisting need to go with solar power or get generator.

To me genrator looks expensive to maintain but I am not sure about solar panels.

Any suggestion please ?

Is there any specific laptop in Pakistan Market with long time battery life ?

Thanks for your time reading this confused writing of a confused person. :(

In Lahore, during load shedding time, some photocopier shops do their work using small generator. If photocopy is done using generator power, the price for one ID card photocopy is usually Rs 10 (both side of IDcard).

All you need is a Generator capable to charge your UPS battery, you have the UPS just buy a suitable generator, shut down the generator when the battery is charged, you can use your photocopy machine when your generator is running.

Check:

When buying a generator ask the shopkeeper to attach your UPS and battery to it and show you a demo, buy a generator that is not heavy on fuel, just right for your needs, a 2 or 2.5 kva in my opinion.

This is the best that comes to my mind, i have very limited knowledge, so please first discuss with some expert.
