I want to buy an old house (app. 50 years old) in Lonia Mandi, Saddar Cantt, Lahore. The owner is demanding Rs8,000,000. Can anybody help me what i should offer and what could be the problems in buying old house in Cantt Board Area, like:
1. old grant
2. new lease
3. new construction, etc

I can share my knowledge, which is that old grant needs to be converted into new grant otherwise the property may not be trnasfered by the MEO/Cantonment. Conversion from old grant into new grant with paytment fee to the Cantonment. Therefore, rates of old grant and new grant property differs.
As regards new construction, you need to approve the map from the MEO/Cantonment which is a routine process. Anyway you just go to the cantonment office with the owner of the house and get latest rules on the matter. Wish you best of luck. |
