Lahore ring road along with the metro bus is example of ill planning and technical advise to the respective govts.

Govt. of Punjab could have saved all the millions with slight intelligent planning by simply inviting expert advise.

It is worth wile to pay for the right advise rather than pay millions on infrastructure which is not efficient or need to be demolished again after 10 years.

As an example, we saved few millions in building an airport terminal while using same runway but now we are spending billions to prepare approach to it and to the dwellings, that sprung up around.

In similar manner a timely and intelligent advise on ring road can save govt., not only millions in infrastructure but also result in intelligent segregation of traffic, which will just come to Lahore only because there is no other way around it.

I have no idea what your credentials are when you have posted above advice. To me it looks hollow and without any substance. Please analyse at least one aspect and spell out their mistakes so that we can learn something good from your experience and knowledge.

Do you remember the Airport entrance in the past and can you differentiate what we have achieved rotating the entrance except extra millage and still no proper access to Lahore airport.

Totally nonsense so will be new trans express road. May we know where all that CNG green buses are these days.

Dear brother Khan,

I have hinted an example of choosing location of Lahore airport, which serves people from Sahiwal to Jehlum and Sargodha to Sialkot.

Every one is forced to use Mall and canal road. It waste lot of their time and add to the existing traffic of Lahore.

Leave the airport aside, I have a much more efficient alternate to the remaining ring road. govt. need to show initiative by inviting proposals for Lahore master plan.

Easy said than done.The example of airport does not bring your point very forcefully. You can not built a new airport without huge huge resources. Improvement of an existing infra structure has far more complexities. The demographics, finances and the future projection of population trends. There are huge implications. I would like to see an example of from this part of the globe where these problems have been solved ideally according to your assessment. The only example of very poor and childish case which comes to my mind is the alignment of underpasses on the canal bank.I think the technical head or designer who agreed to have the underpass in the alignment of slow traffic instead of fast traffic should have been put in jail for such a wastage of money.

About the alignment of underpass on canal bank, you have a good point, but the issue is that if the underpass was on the other side, it would be too close to the canal. It is still doable but the cost of wall structure subjected to hydrostatic pressures etc goes up exponentially. Please don’t jail the poor soul who did the design, he was not too far off.

Engineer is right with his observation. But how come all the other underpasses were built and the hydrostatic pressure was taken care of. I am sure 14 ft of hydrstatic pressure should be a big deal. Let us be good engineers to accept and then learn from our mistakes.

Every one of you is right, incl. the govt. who is doing some thing.... but i was simply talking on planning level. What 'engineer' spoke about is details and debates of engineering. Who is responsible is another debate.

Don't fight brothers, but positive debate is good.

I believe that large cities need master plan, for current population and future expansion. Doing temporary things without planning means wastage at every level. I come back to my point.. that it is much wiser to s invite suggestions, instead of putting up personal wishes to engineers.

Ring Road is not complete until it is connected to ferozpur road and to Motorway to say the least. Current setup of going thru Bund Road to catch Ring Road from motorway defeats the very purpose of the ring road. I think even a very stupid planned can tell that a dual carriage way from Kala Shah Kaku to Northern Lahore would have been a far better option than the stupid MTS. And where is my connection of LRR to ferzoepur road from state life (last package of LRR southern loop). Haathi nikal gaya, Dum Reh gai. That was a huge relief to people from Township etc wanting to go to airport. By the way, airport entrance is not bad, who siad it is not good. Parkview is disconnected but PV has been benefited with a dual carriage way in fornt and PV did not built that..
