Do we have dual citizenship agreement with USA and Canada!! I know that with uk, we do have. Just want to enquire in case one gets the citizenship of Canada, does he need to surrender his Pak citizenship.
Admn, pls let it for a while, thanks

For canada, there is no issue of keeping dual citizenship. One can keep both the citizenships.

It is Pakistan who allow's you to keep dual nationality and
not any of the other countries mentioned above.

@flex-01, thanks.
@jk, I have heard that there remains a mutual agreement and Pak has such agreements with 13 or 16 countries. Other than those countries, once you apply for the citizenship you are only granted after you surrender yours. Like Saudi Arabia, Austria and perhaps Germany also.
I have little extension to same query,....if I get a citizenship of any country surrendering mine, would I be eligible to establish any business or purchase property in Pak. Thanks

You can purchase property in Pakistan NO issue at all.

If I have to surrender my great Pakistani nationality I would prefer to die in Pakistan

hairat ki baat hai, We pakistani if dont like our own nationality who else will,
We are pakistani but we hate our nationality,
Our national language is Urdu(Quran in arabic), we Love English language.
We get insulted being called as "Paki" but we like the nationality of those (UK,USA,etc)insulting us.
We are pakistani and we want help from other nationality
Until we dont lift up our own Nation we will be cheap, looking for help from other nations.

Yes we have dual citizenship agreement with USA and Canada along with 14 other countries. Citizens of those countries who also have Pakistani Passport/NIC can apply for NICOP.

You may refer this site for authentic info: http://www.pcgv.org/consular-services_NICOP.shtml

@ahmed, looks like you have not travelled to MiddleEast or Europe and then you will come to know why people prefer foreigh passports. One of the BIGGEST reasons is visa-free, hassle free travel to so many countries. I felt humiliated at Dubai Airport where they put you in separate queue for checks. Its the image of the country that has developed over the years.
I am not a dual national and love Pakistani Nationality, but sometimes, you really get irritated to miss education, job and business opportunities available to "priviliged" passports.
No one hates his/her place of birth,,,its the people around who make you do it !!!

Nadeem replied on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 06:15 PM

@ Isloo... UAE and Saudi don't care any more about US, UK or any foreign passport if your skin is BROWN. They'll treat u as they want... until u have white skin.

@Nadeem you are 100% correct for UAE I know now their is hardly salay difference between Pakistani Passport holder and Gora country passport holder ( Only for asian skined people) now I have few firends their compaies are start asking to hiring firm only hire White skin or dark black skin people if they are having GORA country passwport :) Inshalla jab Pakistan track per wapis ayee ga to yah log na ghar ka rahen gay na ghat kay same as Today its happeing in India

You may get the citizenship of any country but you will always be treated as a second rated citizen there. We,who travel or live abroad, need to improve our conduct and behaviour, only then we can earn respect for our Green Passport like we had till 1970. A personal note: I will never try to acquire nationality of any other country despite living abroad with family.
Regards to all Pakistani Nationals
