Is it true that if I want to travel few schengen countries and I get UK visa, it would be sufficient for me to move around in schengen countries as well as UK. OR I need schengen and UK visa together for this purpose. Thanks

NO, UK visa has nothing to do with Schengen visa , you have to get Schengen states visa if you want to enter any Schengen country.

U need seperate visa for both.

Most IMPORTANT:

If you have applied through Consulate "Country A", then You HAVE TO enter "Country A" firstly to move around to another Schengen States. In short, your schengen visa application country would be your frist entry in the schengen area.

This rules applies to all the schegen countries no matter which country you are applying.

uk is not in the schengen states, u need separate visa if u need to travel to united kingdom

Ehtesham replied on Sunday, January 27, 2013 10:05 PM

Two seperate visas will be required, one for UK and the other for Schengen states.

However, it is not mandatory for the issuing country of Schengen visa to be the 1st port of entry. This is a false impression.

@Limo,
Good luck for your visit to UK and Europe. I think that you should now stop researching and start practical steps for your trip. Too much research only confuses the matter.
UK visa is only for visiting UK. For travelling Schengen countries you will certainly need Schengen Visa.
I fully agree with Salman Sahib that it is mandatory that your Schengen visa issuing country would be the first entry in the Schengen area. Moreover it is a basic requiremment that you will provide travelling documents including tickets, hotel bookings, insurance etc. Your visa will only be stamped if these documents are provided.The dates of your tickets (entry and exit) is the period of your Schengen visa.

@Ehtesham Sahib,
I am afraid that your information is not correct. Please inform if you have practicle experience or share any link to update us about the issue.

Mr. Ehtesham is correct. Last year in September i went to Germany, i got my visa from Italian embassy in Riyadh. I went direct to Berlin and came back from Berlin without entering into Italy. there was absolutely no problem in that.
i don't know if this is a new rule.

Nadeem Sahib,
Thanks for clearing the matter.
My personal experience remained different. May be it depends upon the country of origin. I applied for a Schengen visa in Norwegian Embassy from London. I had to provide to provide my ticket for Norway to confirm that my first entry would be Norway.

Kaisrani sahib,
There might be something with the place of application or the embassy one is applying. I think mr. Limo shall contact the embassy he is applying to know the exact requirements.

Best Regards
