I want to ask my friends in Pakistan if anybody has experience or practical knowledge that my son is going to start o-level.one friend has told me while competing for admission in mbbs or engineering they consider science subject(physics ,chemistry ,biology , math)from A-LEVEL and Urdu ,islamiyat . pak studies from O-LEVEL.I am myself doctor working in KSA but I did FSC and at that time there was no entry exam.i am outside of Pakistan and I don't have anybody in country who can get first hand information.please answer positively.Dear admin please don't merge this topic for few time :h Ihsan replied on Friday, June 28, 2013 09:17 AM

Dear Dr. Go to the website of institution & get first hand information. A level seats are few in Govt. University. |

nowadays for admission in engineering or medical college a merit list is made based on 10% result of matric or o level 45% result of A level or FSc and remaining 45% result of entry test (MCAT or ECAT) u friend is right a student of o level doing A level with phy, che, maths or phy, chem , bio with result of islamiat , pak studies and urdu from o level is considered but u have to obtain an equivalency certificate from islamabad before applying in equivalence they convert ur o and a level result into marks instead of grades to make it compatiable with fsc |

Dear friend KSA,mr Aftabdino is right.after equivalence about 12 to 15% marks of your son will be reduced to make equal to FSC. so if you want to do admit your son in medical or engg college in Pakistan,it is wise to do FSC. instead of O-level,A-level. wish you goodluck. |

Reduction of marks on obtaining equiv. certificate is not true anymore. It could have been implemented in past. A clear cut policy is available on IBCC Website. If you need more details you may reach on my mobile (Riyadh Saudi Arabia). My daughter has cleared A level and son currently studying in A (Final year). |

Dear Friend-KSA, I am in the same situation but a little ahead than you. My Son has passed O-Lev and I am trying for him good option in A-Lev. I know engg univesities like NUST, GIKI and some others which give the admission on A-Lev results or on SAT results. For sure with A-Level, a child may get disadvantage for getting admission in Govt univ like UET due to equivalence and then entry test. |
