Do you have Cook, Cleaner and Driver in UK? If not then you can reduce your expenses even more.
Regarding Schools, Schools in Lahore are much better than in UK, so it's not necessary that you send your kids to top names. You can also get good studies and reasonable school in £8 to 10K per month.
It all depends how you like to live but I think in Rs.100,000 one can run a house reasonably.

Agree with Mr.Visitor....100k to 125 k reasonably fair estimate......

Estimator replied on Sunday, August 25, 2013 03:25 PM

Hi,
My estimate on conservative side is Rs. 300k. Due to volatile prices and rupee devaluation you should expect 20% ncrease in prices per year.

1. Buy your own house.
2. Go for automation (Automatic Washer, Dish Washer etc) in your house & avoid hiring servants. Servants are not only security risk but cause some social problems as well.
3. Keep a low profile.

Dear Iqbal, I am in the similar situation as I want to shift from the UAE. I think around Rs 200,000.00 is quite sufficent. You should consider security, load shedding and curruption prior to shifting also.

AOA dear gov officer,
If you are working for Pakistani gov, Your salary is not halal. Please consider the fact that Pakistani GOVT, takes loan from IMF, to give you the salary. IMF makes its profit from interest rate from all over the globe. and more over it is interest money from Yahud so think and analyze properly before you considers other people earnings as haram.

Regards
Abdulah

dear mr abdulla.

i respect your views.its not only the govt off that somehow( if you say so) are having IMF money,or whatever intreats !!!
its more a bigotry to say like that, this money moves in whole country not for particular to govt employees...
its said in islam ''profit should be equal to salt in flour" but we??? we try to gain maximum and maximum at any !! that leads to inflation which we r seeing rite now ...
and who effects is middle class who want to have simple a house after 50 of u knw job !!
i said in their reference f them 50000 is sufficient to run a decent home

rest its exclutinanist yardstick u used in argument
still i regards you views sir

Dear Abdulah

In which country you are?

Abdullah replied on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 04:10 AM

Dear gov officer and Adnan,
Kindly perform google search on "Sunna money".
If youtube is blocked in Pakistan you can install a free program called "freegate" use this program to search for extremely wonderful lectures on youtube, on what is "Sunna money" the concept of halal money accroding to our prophet Mohammed(saw).
Atleast we should be aware of the difference between the "Sunna money" and the paper money which the banks print, and how they make their prophet. There is lecture by a wonderful Professor from Malaysia Dr. Meera on banking system and what banking system has done to Americans and Europians.

Abdullah

god blessyou all brothers

Adnan replied on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 02:19 PM

Dear Brother Abdulla, thank you for the short cut to youtube, I was not aware of that, I hope that too is not haram :-). By the way, in the time of the Prophet (PBUH), there were no banks, so he could not possibly advise about banking and financial matters. As I said in my earlier statement, I am the head of business development in an Islamic financial institution, I dont need to listen to youtube videos, I do this every day for a living. Let me tell you brother, reading is so much better than listening, it opens up your mind to questions. Unless you ask questions, you can never know the answers. The interest system is not based on the same principles as Riba during and before the time of the Prophet, that system still exists in India in some parts, but that is entirely different from the interest based banking system. If you lease a car from an Islamic bank, they will buy it first and then sell it to you on profit which you have to pay during a fixed term. Tell me, how is it different from a commercial bank's lease, it is not, only difference is the language, it is just a farce created to attract money from people who have been told by the Mulla that banking interest is haram. The problem with our generation is that we have facebook and youtube. So we prefer to listen than research ourselves, because it is so much easier.

Abdullah replied on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 02:20 PM

Dear Adnan AOA,
The only difference between your suggestion and mine is that you tend to believe that interest rate is halal as it is not Riba and my believe is that interest rate is haram as it is Riba.
You tend to believe on the discussion and debates that are suggesting that banking interests rate are halal quote from you "banking interest is not similar to Riba and there is plenty of evidence and debate that it is not haram"
and I am only saying that banking interest rate is Riba.
May Allah(swt) show us the sirate-mustaqeem and guide us to staright path and give us Hidaya. ameen

salam,
Abdullah
