I have purchased 5 marla house just now and i already have 1 kanal plot.
The 5 marla house is bought for the purpose to resell after one or two years and meanwhile collect/save some more money and Start construction on 1 Kanal hosue.

In a way 5 marla house and 1 kanal plot both are residence and nothing surplus.

Now please advise me, if I any of them (Plot or House) is liable of any Zakat???

Dear AS,

I am not sure whether any allims visit this site or not. It is advisable that you visit any knowledgeable aalim to get an answer. This matter is related to Zakat and you have to be very sure in these cases since any incorrect information can have serious consequences in life hereafter. Anyhow, for what it is worth, my opinion is that you already have a house (5 marla) which fulfils requirements of residence in all senses. So your plot of 1 kanal is excess and should be considered as Zakat. I would like to emphasise that I am not an aalim and this advise s based purely on my logical analysis. Please take advise of an aalim to be sure.

I would recommend talking to a mufti or imam of masjid for zakat. Because there are more conditions

Zakat is applicable on: money, gold/silver and mal-e-tijarat.
Plot bought for pure purpose of sale is considered like mal-e-tijarat, so Zakat is applicable on that plot (no matter you have to use that money in some other purpose like you have to spend in making house) so you have to pay zakat on 5 marla. 1 kanal is not for sale purpose, so no zakah applicable on that (even if you have mixed purpose like your intention was either would sell the plot or would make house on that or would keep for passing on to children then zakat is not applicable on that property) as I have heard from Aalim in ARY program last days. You can send your question in email, he definitly answers even with some delay:
or at
