Dear NFC plot holders! I reached NFC1 today at about 11.00 AM to cast my vote. Representatives at the stall of ‘Humara NFC Residents Friends Group’ contesting elections under the election symbol of ‘rose’ told that elections had been stayed again late Friday by a single-bench of Lahore high court on an appeal of NFC Insaf Group contesting elections under the symbol of flag. Residents group tried to challenge this stay order in the court on Saturday but that couldn’t be done due to weekly off. Now they intend to do so on Monday.
This is the 3rd such postponement of elections and the matter of elections has been lingering on for about one year. As per representatives of Resident group, development in NFC2 has been put on hold due to this very reason. NFC, they said, is being run by a government appointed administrator who has no powers to develop the society as per new society rules. Otherwise, they claimed, ample funds were available with the society for getting the work done. They also claimed to finish the development of at least two-three blocks within 1-1/2 year upon its commencement.
NFC Resident group was expecting a favorable decision by a larger bench of Lahore High court in a short period of time since such stays have also been overturned in the past. Let’s see how things shape up in the days to come. |
