Its important that you seek medical help asap . Delaying will only result in longer episode and recovery will be a painful process. Therefore early intervention is extremely crucial!
Is she sleeping well? If not, I would give her some sleeping pills to help rest her racy brain and thoughts. Sleep is very important too and sometime lack of sleep and stress can trigger this bipolar episode.
Does your wife take risperidone with Lithium ( sodium valproate ) ? Risperidone is an anti-psychotic drug, therefore, its not a long term fix. To keep neurons in balance she may need to take lithium on a daily basis together with Reisperidone 1 or 2 mg daily. Few people don't like risperidone as It is a very nasty drug so therefore I am not surprised if she does not like the taste of it. Please speak to your psychiatrist to see if there are any alternatives available in Pakistan.
Sorry I am not a doctor but I have had similar situation in past. They key is to understand the situation your wife is in, its not her fault if she is going bit funny, its an illness like all other illnesses so please be understanding with her condition, I am sure you are already doing so. This condition can be controlled successfully. The key is right balance of medication and you must not argue with your wife when she is unwell because there will not be any rationality and you would feel like if you are talking to a stone. Therefore, its better not to involve in any arguments , it will make recovery process quicker. |
