CDA demolishes 48 houses in Park Enclave-I

 

Islamabad: The enforcement wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) demolished 48 houses and over a dozen boundary walls in an operation against encroachments in Park Enclave Phase-I.

 

An official of CDA said that the ongoing series of operations was meant to clear non-developed and under -developed residential sectors of encroachments. However, it is still a big question mark on the ability of the civic body to keep the land mafia away from its land and has to launch operations time and again to remove encroachers.

CDA all set to develop new parks

 

Islamabad:The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is all set to develop several new modern parks in the federal capital to provide better recreational facilities to the residents.

 

“The civic authority has already developed around 37 public parks in the federal capital during the last ten years and is working on a policy to increase their number in the coming years,” official sources in the CDA told this agency on Wednesday. “We need three to four months to develop a new park after completion of the codal formalities.

 

“At present, they said the federal capital had six amusement parks, which were considered sufficient to cater to the recreational needs of Islamabad residents. “But the policy has been made that whenever a new sector will be developed, an amusement park will be constructed along,” he added.

 

The sources said that the CDA was developing several new sectors, including I-11, I-12, I-14, I-15, I-16, D-12, and Park Enclave, adding that Model Villages and parks were also being developed in the said areas. “As and when these areas are developed and completed, the new parks will be there to meet the demand and requirement of the general public as per CDA approved layout plan,” he added.

LAHORE: In a recent development, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) finds itself embroiled in controversy as numerous complaints have been lodged regarding discrepancies and allegations of favoritism in the fixed property valuation rates. This revelation has prompted an investigation into the matter by the Federal Tax Ombudsman, while the Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue has taken steps to review the rates of main and off-road roads.

 

According to reliable sources, the Federal Tax Ombudsman has received complaints indicating that the FBR staff may have displayed partiality while determining the rates of properties, possibly favoring certain locations. These complaints have raised concerns about the impartiality and transparency of the valuation process.

 

In response to mounting criticism, the Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue has issued instructions to conduct a thorough review of the property valuation rates, particularly focusing on main and off-road roads.

 

One specific allegation that has come to light pertains to the fair market value (FMV) of immovable properties in the district of Sheikhupura. The complainant argues that the valuation of properties in this area was not carried out appropriately but rather in an arbitrary and discretionary manner.

 

In defense, the department acknowledged that the FBR determined the Fair Market Value in accordance with Section 68(5) of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, based on a comprehensive survey, without any arbitration involved. However, they acknowledged the possibility of human error and conceded that complaints regarding the valuation of properties in the mentioned serial numbers are currently under review. These complaints have already been forwarded to the review committee of the Valuation of Immovable Property of RTO Lahore.

Islamabad Launches Crackdown Against Illegal Sale and Purchase of CDA Land

 

Islamabad’s district administration has taken a decisive step to curb the rising number of rehabilitation claims related to land acquired by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

 

In an effort to put an end to the illegal sale and purchase of CDA-acquired land through the use of stamp papers, the district administration has imposed a ban on this practice and has called upon authorized stamp vendors to comply.

 

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue has issued a stern warning to all stamp vendors, urging them to immediately cease this unlawful practice. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of their licenses, along with legal action being taken against them.

 

Over the years, the CDA has acquired vast expanses of land in various revenue estates throughout the capital city for the purpose of developing residential sectors and other projects. However, in many instances, the authority has been unable to provide full compensation to landowners, and complete possession of the acquired land has also proven to be a challenge.
