Quetta BCDA working on master plan for Balochistan’s coastal belt

Quetta: The Balochistan Coastal Development Authority (BCDA) is chalking out the master plan of the coastal lie of the province in an attempt to identify the future feasibility of ‘compressive development and preservation of the natural ecosystem’, according to news published on January 23.

Reportedly, the Balochistan government is contributing earnest effort to finalise the master plan to leverage the plethora of tourist destinations dotting the 750-kilometre-long coastal belt and boost the ‘blue economy’. To further optimize the potential of the provincial tourism sector, the government worked to preserve marine life and protect the coastal ecosystem to combat coastal erosion.

The construction work on eco-tourism resorts, jetties, beach parks and rest spots has been ongoing in full swing to accommodate local and foreign travellers. The development of resorts in Gadani, Kund Malir, Jiwani, Aurmara, Gwadar and Kalmat is almost 90% complete. Moreover, the government has spent PKR 250 million on the establishment of five beach parks at the coastal belt.

As per the sources, the government has also formulated BCDA to oversee commercial, residential and other salient facilities for tourists.

Pakistan Mohmand Dam to be completed by 2026: Chairman WAPDA

Islamabad: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Engineer Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (retired) said that the Mohmand Dam project will be completed by 2026, news sources reported on January 26.


The chairman revealed this information while on a visit to the dam construction site. He said that work is taking place at 11 sites of the project at present, with more sites to be opened soon. He added that the recent floods in the region had delayed the project and the work was halted to solve the water-related issues. However, the development work has now resumed to full capacity with the project expected to complete as per the decided timeframe.

It is important to note that the Mohmand Dam hydropower project will store 1.2 million acre-feet (MAF) of water and will contribute 2.86 billion units of low-cost and environment-friendly hydel electricity per annum to the national grid.


Moreover, it is also expected to provide 300 million gallons of water per day for drinking purposes in Peshawar. The project will also irrigate 18,237 acres of new land in Mohmand and Charsadda and provide socio-economic benefits of Rs 51.6 billion.

DG MDA Orders Strict Action Against Illegal Housing Schemes January 2023

MULTAN: Director General of the Multan Development Authority (MDA), Saleem Qaisar, has stated that strict action was being taken against unauthorized housing complexes.


As per the sources, he said that MDA was tightening the noose around the owners of unlawful housing schemes, and FIRs were being filed against the owners.

The details suggest that DG MDA warned the public not to fall for the mafia’s unlawful housing projects in his message to the public.

The DG also advised that before buying a plot in any housing scheme, people must consult the MDA’s website and social media handles or ask the MDA for information on the legal status of the pertinent society.

According to the sources, the over-expanded portion of the Adams Housing proposal was also declared unlawful.

MDA, according to details, did not legalize the expanded region and only 480 Kanal of the housing plan were allowed for the Adams Housing project, which then illegally enlarged the colony to 600 Kanal.

Besides, the sources also confirmed that MDA sent multiple notices to the housing society but their non-compliance has compelled the civic body to designate the enlarged portion as illegal.

Good News: DHA Multan Launches Free Bus Service for Students

MULTAN: The Defense Housing Authority (DHA) Multan has introduced a complimentary bus service specifically for students residing in the housing project.


This pick-and-drop service will provide transportation to and from DHA Multan and Chungi #9, free of charge.

The DHA administration says it is dedicated to improving services and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents of the housing project through initiatives such as this.

FP Global (Private) Limited and a Hyatt affiliate have entered into a franchise agreement for the Hyatt Regency Lahore DHA which will be the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Pakistan and a significant advancement in Hyatt's plans to broaden its brand portfolio in Southwest Asia according to a press release from Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H).

The resort which is a part of Defence Housing Authority Phase 6 (DHA-6) will be run by Valor Hospitality Partners and is scheduled to start accepting guests in 2024.
