Deadline Set for the Opening of Shahdara Chowk and Ravi Bridge


Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Naqvi conducted a site visit to Shahdara Chowk and Ravi Bridge to inspect the ongoing construction and established a deadline for the completion of these projects, as reported in national dailies on January 2.


During his visit, CM Naqvi closely monitored the night shift workers and assessed the progress of drilling activities at the site. Stressing the crucial importance of timely completion, Naqvi directed the team to expedite the work and make optimal use of all available resources to ensure the completion of Shahdara Chowk and Ravi Bridge by January 31.


In another development, CM Naqvi formally inaugurated the Islamia Ground Sports Complex in Lahore. He conducted a thorough tour of the facility, engaging in a game of chess and exploring various areas, including the gym, badminton hall, snooker room, table tennis hall, swimming pool, squash court, and a dedicated gym for women.

PDWP Approves Three Lahore Development Projects with a Total Cost of PKR 7561.473 Million


Lahore: The Punjab Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved three significant development initiatives in Lahore, with a combined estimated cost of PKR 7561.473 million. This decision was reported in a leading newspaper on January 3, following a meeting chaired by Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, the Chairman of the Planning & Development (P&D) Board, and attended by Muzaffar Khan Sial, the Secretary of the P&D Board.


The approved schemes include:



  1. Construction of a Signal-Free Corridor from Karim Market to Motorway (M-2) Phase-I, with an estimated cost of PKR 2975.034 million.

  2. Construction of a Flyover and Underpass at Ghahri Shahu Chowk to address traffic congestion issues, at PKR 3951.469 million.

  3. Conservation and Upgradation of Shrines and Mosques in Uch Sharif, along with the development of the Pilgrim Trail, approved at PKR 635 million.

Rawalpindi: The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) has officially declared the inclusion of Chandani Chowk Bus Station in the Metro Bus Express route, according to information from a news source on January 2.


As per the details provided, an official from the Metro Bus revealed that the recently initiated express service, linking Saddar to the Pakistan Secretariat, initially featured six stops. Chandani Chowk has now been incorporated into the route with the specific aim of facilitating patients traveling to Benazir Bhutto Hospital.


The Metro Bus service has proven to be a time-efficient choice for commuters traveling between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, reducing travel time by 20 minutes compared to the regular service, which stops at 24 stations along the route.


In another update, addressing the repair work at the 6th Road station, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General (DG) Saif Anwar Jappa informed that the reconstruction, with a cost of PKR 99 million, is set to be completed by January 6.


DG Jappa outlined the civil works involved, including the replacement of damaged doors (Emergency Exit), signboards, tempered glass, granite, railing, metal cladding (roofing), vinyl sheet on flooring, rehabilitation of the ticket booth, shot concreting at the burned portion of the slab, and paint and plaster works.
