Limited working at DHA Gujranwala Main / Sub Transfer offices will resume with effect from Monday, 20th April, 2020

Following procedures will be adopted:-

The timings of public dealing shall be from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM only

All precautionary measures against Corona Virus will be ensured, including wearing of mask & gloves, without which, the entry will not be allowed. Sanitization drill and social distancing in all areas will be strictly observed.

Dealers or their reps, to first make an appointment for visiting

After receiving a call from the concerned office, the dealer or his rep will approach the office at a given time for the specified purpose and will try to utilize minimum time so that others can also be entertained with the minimum waiting time. In case of late arrival, given appointment will be considered as “Cancelled” and new appointment will have to be taken again.

Sub transfer offices will also adhere to the above-mentioned procedure.

What to Expect on Currencies & Interest Rates

• SBP reduces Reserves Requirements to free up Banks’ liquidity


IMF’s approval to provide Pakistan with $1.4bn under RFS not only infused confidence in the market, but more importantly, paved the way for other multilateral inflows from WB & ADB to the tune of $2.5bn. Markets also got to know that Pakistan may be favoured by the G20 in waving/rescheduling loans to the tune of $12bn. Keeping this in mind, traders wondered how much further could the Rupee strengthen and how low can interest rates go.

Looking at yesterday’s price action in USDPKR, most traders agree that it was a Central Bank inspired intervention, and part of the 3 pronged action taken by SBP including the rate cut and reserve cut, and was timed to coincide with the IMF’s RFS facility - and therefore with their consent. Considering this, and also the fact that the Central Bank in capacity of regulator, would not want to see extreme moves in financial markets (as may be seen by their staggered rate cut), Rupee should consolidate around current levels before strengthening further, but may not go below 160/$.

However, SBP’s space to take measures may be constricted by how well Pakistan manages the stimulus measures. Analysts are of the view that since IMF’s nod will be required for any material action, they will be closely watching for transparency and effectiveness of transferring the relief to not only the large and small companies, but also to other essential constituents of the economic cycle including retailers, daily wagers and even the unemployed. While SBP is on the ball, MoF will need to play catch up to give IMF this assurance that the money is being spent well. And there is much to gain by having the Fund on board as a financial enabler.

Unfortunately, between lives and livelihood, there is very little Pakistan can do to control the pandemic, but by adopting timely and effective framework for economic stability, it can soften the blow on livelihood. This may also need better collaboration with other countries & agencies. If done right, one more rate cut of 1-2% within the next quarter is on the cards.

Risk on mood dominated global markets, buoyed by relaxation of lock downs in major markets. Traders were also boosted by reports that Gilead’s drug Remdesivir could be effective in treating coronavirus cases. The company was careful to state that the data was anecdotal, but markets are hungry for any bit of positive news when it comes to the virus and this fuelled a furious rally in stocks, although FX markets were more muted.

If there’s one thing that’s certain in forex, it is that the dollar is king. The greenback traded higher against most of the major currencies despite another round of worrisome data. More than 5.2 million people filed for jobless claims benefits last week and housing starts fell by the largest amount in three decades. Ironically, the primary reason for the dollar’s strength is ongoing pessimism. The dollar rises on good news and bad because investors perceive the outlook for the rest of the world to be worse. This is one of the reasons why euro could slide further and test its 3 years lows.

Comdollar currencies were also hurt somewhat by the continued weakness in commodities. Oil slid to $18/bbl in overnight trade pushing USDCAD back above 1.4100 while gold broke below $1700/oz pressing on Aussie a bit.

REVIEW MEETING REGARDING ONGOING DEVELOPMENT WORKS:

Islamabad: April 16, 2020: A meeting to review ongoing development works in Islamabad was held at CDA Headquarters. The meeting reviewed the development work of Park Enclave-I, Park Enclave-II, Sector I-15, I-12 and Sector E-12. This meeting was follow up of the meeting held on 6-4-2020.

The meeting was briefed that in Park Enclave-II for prompt initiation of development activities in the project stalled since more than six years, up-till now the possession of around 400 kanals land has been taken over by the authority while possession of remaining 50 kanals of requisite land to initiate development work will be obtained by Friday. It was further briefed that earmarking of several streets has also been carried out. Chairman CDA directed that PC-I of the project should be taken up in the upcoming CDA-DWP meeting for consideration in next week.

In this connection, Chairman CDA directed to accelerate the pace of operation being conducted to obtain possession of vacant land.

While briefing about progress on development activities in sector E-12 meeting was informed that timelines for preparation of estimates are on track and tenders for development work would be called shortly. It was informed that tenders of development works in sector E-12/2 and E-12/3 would be collectively called within two weeks.

The meeting was also briefed that Estimates for launching development works in sector I-12 are in final stages after preparation of estimates the tenders would be called by end of April. In this regard, Chairman directed to complete codel formalities so that tenders be called within in two weeks.

While briefing about progress on development works in sector I-15, the meeting was informed that NIT of the first phase has been issued to pre-qualified firms and will be opened on while physical development activities be started by the end of this month.

سعودی عرب نے پاکستان کے ساتھ 20 ارب ڈالرز کے معاہدوں کی منظوری دے دی۔

جیو نیوز سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے پاکستان میں سعودی عرب کے سفیر نواف سعید المالکی نے بتایا کہ سعودی کابینہ نے پاکستان کے ساتھ 20 ارب ڈالر کے معاہدوں کی منظوری دے دی ہے۔

سعودی سفیر کا کہنا ہے کہ گزشتہ سال پاکستان اور سعودی عرب کے درمیان مختلف شعبوں میں 8 معاہدوں اور یاداشتوں (ایم او یوز) پر دستخط ہوئے تھے۔

ان کا کہنا ہے کہ سعودی کابینہ نے جن ایم او یوز کی منظوری دی ہے ان میں دونوں ممالک کے درمیان تعاون اور سرمایہ کاری کے 20 ارب ڈالرز مالیت کے منصوبے شامل ہیں۔

سعید المالکی نے بتایا کہ گوادر میں8 ارب ڈالرز کی لاگت سے آئل ریفائنری کا قیام کا منصوبہ بھی شامل ہے جب کہ معدنیات، سعودی اسٹینڈرڈز اینڈ کوالٹی کنٹرول اتھارٹی میں تکنیکی تعاون کے ایم او یو پر بھی دستخط ہوئے تھے۔

ان کا کہنا ہے کہ میٹرولوجی، کھیل، پیٹروکیمیکل سیکٹراور بجلی کی پیداوار کے شعبوں میں ایم او یو سائن ہوئے تھے۔

سعودی سفیر نے بتایا کہ دونوں ممالک کے درمیان آئل، توانائی، متبادل انرجی اور معدنیات کے 4 بڑے معاہدے ہوئے ہیں، آئل ریفائنری کے منصوبے 5 سال، متبادل انرجی میں ونڈ اور سولرکے منصوبے 3 برس میں مکمل ہوں گے۔

ان کا کہنا ہے کہ تمام ایم او یوز پر دستخط سعودی ولی عہد محمد بن سلمان کے دورہ پاکستان کے موقع پر ہوئے تھے، سعودی عرب مشکل کی ہر گھڑی میں پاکستانی بھائیوں کے ساتھ کھڑا ہے۔
