I have learned that in the latest finance bill there is a proposal to authorize the inland revenues to assess the fair market value of all plots at the time of transfer. This means that the transaction value will have to be registered at a value very close to the market value as opposed to the current practice of the DC value. This can have two fold impact (1) increases taxes considerably (2) need for an increased amount of white money at the time of transaction - as a result there could be an impact on the overall activity - especially the short term investing. Pls comment if this is valid.
