I just called DHA Lahore office and they have not confirmed any such news to me at least. Although they said plots transfer process has started but no approval for construction yet.

@PF: Plot transfers are already being done. There has not been any ban on it ever. Question is, when will the construction start? All are rumors yet.

There is no doubt that fixed interest is absolutely Haraam. There is a lot of controversy over so called Islamic Banking in Pakistan too, since it is termed as wine in pepsi bottle. I had previously invested in Islamic Financing but due to doubts and severe punishments of it (if) being Haram, I liquidated it and invested in real estate, which is Halal since it is permissible trade and bears risk and reward at the same time. Not an expert on this but did some research on this my self and talked to people in Jamia Ashrafia as well, who do not clearly say Meezan bank is haram, since they do not give u a fixed profit, it varies every month on profits and loss of the bank. so after doing my analysis i have invested there still if nay brother can educate more, its always better, but my advice is to consult an expert as common ppl do not have enough knwoedge of financial rules and sharia concepts.

Dear MAB, riba interpretation has been very controversial. So use your imagination. Banks take your money and invest it to make money. The interest they pay you is a part of that profit. As for you, you are lending your money to an institution to do business with and are charging him fees or rent for that money. It sounds perfectly Islamic and legitimate to me. Unless you use your money to exploit people or you willingly and knowingly lend your money to companies or people that use it to exploit others, interest on term deposits in my humble opinion has no religious bearing.

Dear MAB,

As per my research on the subject you should try and keep your self away from having savings account in any of the banks existing today. However may keep your current account in some Islamic Bank. This is the best practice in present times if we really want to stay away from the filth of RIBA.
Now, if your health and age doesn't allow and you don't have any other means of regular income and find having a savings account in some bank the only way through which regular income will be assured....go for an Islamic Bank. Transactions of these banks are usually endorsed by renowned muftis, like in case of Meezan Bank...I think Mufti Taqi Usmani Sb....a highly respected and credible religious scholar has endorsed it. I would again stress upon that best thing still would be to go for it in the worst scenario case. There is a Hadith with meaning " ek aisa waqt aye ga jab sood tu kia sood k cheentaon se bi koi nae bach saky ga"!! Aren't we living in the same times ?

it does not matter if dha's footpaths are not nicely painted like bahria. What always matters is the LOCATION.

The facilities and the neighborhood developed in DHA took decades, you can't move a million people and public buildings to bahria in 5 years.

I agree bahria is fancy but bahria can't beat it any time soon.
Also, bahria prices may not be sustainable whilst dha had its steady and concrete growth over due period of time

@Bro Adnan and Luqman, Who bought here plot 5 or 3 or 2 or 1 year ago they know very well how much did they gain, more than 200% profit.
Where such profit you could gain, in Bahria, of course not. I don't speak just comparision in Pakistan but comparatively whole the world even not in Europe or America.

So who bought their plot in DHA any phase they have to say to ALLAH RABUL-ALLAMEEN thousands times ALHAMDULILLAH.

Its just matter of time when Bahria becomes "the location", I remember when DHA was started feelings were same :)
from infrastructure perspective, Bahria is the best. There is no match especially Bahria Rawalpindi/Islamabad. In fact there is more commercial related activities in Bahria Pindi then DHA Islamabad.

I have heard that load shedding has also started in Bahria town lahore. Must be very disappointing for Bahria residents as we used to feel proud living in a society which is perfect in all respects. Can somone give insight about what is the actual issue and will it be over soon or it will continue with the rest of the country.

@bahrialoadshedding, thanks for the info if it is correct as I had heard it is more rigorous than what you are telling.

@tach, till today I didn't know this bribe part. I had heard that there is a lump sum deal between Bahria and lesco..meaning lesco will give certain megawatts uninterrupted to Bahria on monthly basis and Bahria will pay for that. Bahria was getting these megawatts on discounted price since they had made a lump sum deal. Onwards Bahria was charging a little higher than the usual price per unit from the residents and thus not only ensuring uninterrupted power supply to its residents but earning good money as well,...on the bills that we used to pay in Bahria account.

Bottom line if Bahria is giving us un interrupted power supply and we are paying the bills for that regularly....we should appreciate the management for such an arrangement instead of leveling allegations on them without having any concrete evidence...I think it is a negative approach. Whatever arrangements they do, it's them who have to answer for that not us as far as we are paying the bills regularly.

Rest, your approach about all should be treated equally.....principally no one would disagree. BUT let's establish such a society first where all are treated equally. Seeing the recent election results one can safely say that our society is still far from experiencing such an equality.

We should always appreciate the good work, Bahria practices "may" not be appropriate but they are giving benefits to the end user. If you see any business that benefits the user, they are super successful. People want to see what, how comes after.
