Aashiyana Housing Schemes News

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the foundation stone of Aashiyana Iqbal will be laid on March 23.

He said that thousands of houses with modern facilities would be constructed in Aashiyana Iqbal for the poor.

He was presiding over a meeting regarding Aashiyana Iqbal project here on Sunday.

Chairman Punjab Land Development Company Sheikh Alauddin, Chairman Planning and Development, Senior Member Board of Revenue, DCO Lahore and other officers concerned were also present on the occasion.

Chief Executive Officer PLDC Momin Agha gave a detailed briefing about the project.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government had realized the dream of laborers, poor, orphans, widows and hapless people to have their own shelter by providing houses with modern facilities through Aashiyana Housing Schemes.

He further said that a land had been selected for Aashiyana Iqbal on Barki Road where besides other facilities, bus terminal, medical college, university and technical educational institute would also be established.

Sheikh Alauddin informed that the work on the extension project of Aashiyana Housing Scheme at Saroba Attari had been started and 40 thousand applications had been received for getting houses which reflected the confidence of the people in these schemes.

Dear All-

Lets hope that Imran Khan can be elected as the next Prime Minister in order to turn the fortunes around of our beloved country. As an astute observer of the political, and economic developments, things are certainly not looking great. As a foreign investor, the Pakistani rupee has depreciated by ~35% relative to USD in the last 4 years which is a significant loss to my investments in Pakistan. I had bought some plots in Defence where I am taking a loss due to the currency devaluation which has happened due to poor economic policies of the current government.

I, as an example, have stopped investing in Pakistan due to extreme currency losses, and will re-consider investing if and only if Pakistan's economy changes for the better inshallah. Lets hope that our Pakistani men and women realize in this election that a lot is at stake. As a 26 year old, I am sick and tired of hearing about theaterical acts in Pakistan's politics with no PRODUCTIVE policies being conceived or enacted. Only Imran Khan sounds intelligent, and will be a strong leader. I pray to Allah that he becomes the next PM of Pakistan, and things improve in our beloved country inshallah. Pakistan Zindabad!

I agree with the comments above from everyone but we must understand the attitude of common person in Pakistan, whoever gets chance he made money for himself. And when people like Zardari doing such a huge looting no one is bothered to strick against his corruption.
Which shows that ,,,,
Zinda hay Bhutuu Zinda hay,,,, Murda hay yeh koom Murda hay’’’

Khan replied on Monday, February 13, 2012 08:52 PM PST

All these views reflect sentiments more than sense. Looking at the things objectively, no one can bring any dramatic change. It is all slogans. Changes in societies and countries come gradually and continuously. That will happen when people at the grass root level will vote the right people without party affiliations.

The choice is not between good and bad. It unfortunately is between worst and bad. Or bad and less bad.

We should encourage tolerance and acceptance of the ground realities and try to improve from there. One step at a time.

qasim butt replied on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 12:39 AM PST

Mr.Khan u r right in some way but not all,at least less bad can come & start moving direction to right way, nobody is expecting overnight miracle but at least having honest ppl is a common man's wish.

Umair NYC replied on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 01:10 AM PST

@Khan: Yes grass roots are important but so is leadership and vision. These are not only sentiments but facts that can be backed by statistics (high unemployment, inflation, low gdp growth, lack of foreign direct investment, currency devalue etc). A lot of Pakistanis now have hope in Imran Khan, and he should be given a chance this time around as we tried all other crooks. Long live Pakistan.

younus replied on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 01:11 AM PST

Only blackmailers, looters & vested interest people do support PPP. Big number of people are just quiet that is affecting all. Now after all this corruption & disruption of the whole country pillars like PIA, steel mills wapdat gas corporations, railways every body who have the sense, must not remain quiet but to fight to vote for Imran.

masood replied on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 04:07 AM PST

I like PPP because they are honest about what they do .yes they are corrupt and they do this openly. now tell me about your self (pakistani nation in majority) , are we not currupt in different ways ,from sun rise to sun set every day just watch your self, and then say who is corrupt.

Mk replied on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 04:11 AM PST

Why does our constitution allow criminals and double passport holders to contest elections?

England have parliamentary system, America have presidential system non of them have provincial system and we have all of them and not to mention local bodies govt.!!!!

We don't need so many governments because they keep fighting each other and we pay for it.

Nighat replied on Saturday, February 18, 2012 06:35 AM PST

First of all: Vigilance is the price of liberty. Therefore, if we are not vigilant, we cannot be free. Simple!
Election day is a holiday and stay-home for most of us, who comment here.
These people's mission is to destroy & defame PPP of Z.A. Bhutto. therefore, Zardari & Gillani and their ministers are extremely successful in their mission.

Let's Graviate to the Right Path

After remaining depressed for the last many days because of the condition of my beloved country, I am trying my best to contribute something positive.

The comparative study of nations reveals that each place has its own indigenous problems, some common, some unique. Pakistanis these days are becoming so vibrant & outspoken because of their inherent issues cropping up on daily/hourly basis. Fact is, some of our individuals, especially youngsters, are defusing their energies in indulging into irrelevant discussions, petty direction-less activities & praising personalities instead of concepts. I wonder, rather believe that Allah is Willing to dwell us into this situation involuntarily to get some great piece of work for the world. But before this, He has put us on all sorts of trials to separate good from evil. The concept of thesis interacting with anti-thesis to form synthesis is explained in Surah Ar-Raa’d where Allah Has Proclaimed that when metals are set on fire, there comes a surf on the surface which has no significance & what is good for mankind settles underneath. Likewise, some selfish individuals have emerged on the face of this nation trying to resist their egocentric interests on the cost of this nation while the whole nation is put to task.

Rest assured! Allah has never given this world in the hands of devils, thus, these culprits will have their day one day Insha-Allah. Our job here is to get strength from the ‘Uswa-e-Hasanah’ and the only exit is the education, both revealed (The Quran & The Sunnah) & acquired (Social & Applied Sciences) diversified & cascaded to all levels. Let us redirect our thoughts to concentrate on the core issue of uttering each single sentence towards the achievement of goal of educating this nation; our blogs, mails, threads, tweets, discussions, talk-shows & speeches should address this core issue. And do not allow our efforts & energies going astray.

I hope that the above contribution will not much bother the property related topics as social issues are inter-related & the moderators will allow this one like my many other contributions to this forum.

Are there any exemptions applicable to overseas pakistanis in this tax? I am buying the house for my self use and not investment. Thanks in advance
