bought house in Pakistan by name of my mother. There was one of family acquaintance (he knew our family for 20 years) convinced my mother and father to sell this house and invest in his small auto parts business and he will give him HALAL good fluctuating profit. My parents invested Rs. 6 million (without consulting me as my brother in law advised them also it is good business and after 2 year 2 houses can be made----surely it was greed!!) and this man gave fluctuating profit for 6-7 months to my parents and gave nothing since 2010 and I came to know this in Aug 2010 during my visit to Pakistan and demanded my money back, he started saying I will give back within 6-8 months. After constant delay from his side I involved my father in law and his friend.

Finally I took the matter to one of friend who is a property dealer and “good friend of my father in law”. In Jan 2011 he gave us me two post dated cheaques and also gave his property papers and wrote stamp by my name to sell the property to us but “fard” not yet transferred to his name as it was originally his father property and he got as VIRASAT (his brother and sister already signed in his favor).

To cut short we have stamp paper that he borrowed the money, we have stamp paper that he named his property to us and we have two post dated cheaque PKR 7 million from this man one is stale (6 months old) while other is without date.
Please need some trusted money recoverer party (%age basis) as I have full documnts that can help.

Kindly advise

Treatment for Parkinson disease (suggestion needed)

Aoa,
My father has been diagnosed with Parkinson disease last year. He can move in slow phase but for little time, he cannot sit stand by himself and very difficult for him to keep balance, often falls in washroom.
I have taken him to few neurophysician here in peshawar and all of them advised the common medicines "Sinamet", "Pk-merz" and "dophamine" with slight variation in doses but there is no improvement at all after a 7,8 months usage. i.e. the symptoms remain as it is and increasing with time.
Please suggest me a good and understanding Neurophysician in Peshawar or Islamabad/Pindi, or if there is any doctor here on the forum who could help with these medicines uses or any other advises which could help my father to keep balance and improve his movement.

Masood replied on Sunday, August 21, 2011 08:55 PM PST

AOA Brother Imran,
Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease. Levodopa/Carbidopa are standard regime for the treatment of this disease.
They can delay the full on set of this disease. There are some newer meds however the combination of these two are still considered as a gold standard in the early stages of this disease.

Imran Bhai I read a research article recommending at least two cups/day of coffee for Parkinson patients.

I am sorry to hear of your father's condition. Medicines would help, though it takes long, so be patient.

It is recommended to stick to one neurologist, as most will manage the condition in a similar manner, sticking to one will be beneficial for your father, as the physician would be able to appreciate the progression of the disease.

Prof. Sardar Alam used to be a big name in neuro at Peshawer, you may consult him.

Prayers for your father.

Regards,

adnan replied on Sunday, August 21, 2011 11:22 PM PST

Brother Imran! There is no cure for Parkinsonism. The medicine which your father uses replaces the missing hormone but they are short lived. The most important thing in management of Parkinsonism is to take the medicines exactly as presribed and exactly at the same time. This can be difficult but because as soon as the medicine is metabolised the deficiency sets in! So check with the physician and give medicines exactly at the prescribed time.

MAS replied on Monday, August 22, 2011 02:46 AM PST

Dear Imran I am in the same boat. My father too was diagnosed with Parkinsonism about two years ago and I am still learning about the disease and searching for solutions. He too has difficulty getting up from chair and has slow movement. This is called Bradykinesia.

He too have been prescribed PK-Merz and Sinemet. I have read that Sinemet can cause side effects like depression, hallucinations, worsening of involuntary movements, dizziness and many other possible side effects are there. Furthermore my father also has slightly enlarged prostate for which he takes medicines. I have also read that Parkinson medicines tend to worsen the urinary symptoms associated with enlarged prostate. Due to these reasons I have so far resisted giving him any medicine for Parkinsons at all. I have been told by doctors that Parkinson medicines DO NOT slow or delay the progression of disease, they merely control the symptoms so it is okay to delay taking medicines as long as symptoms are mild or manageable. My father was seen by Dr Tariq head of Neurology at PIMS but I have also been recommended Dr Mazhar Badshah of PIMS and Dr Arsalaan at Shifa Internatinal, Islamabad.

There are other ways to manage the disease. Have metal pipes/bars installed on the side of W.C in the wash room so he can use it as arm support in order to get up. Also have metal handles installed near the shower area which he can grab for support and to avoid falling. Make sure to have thick wall-to-wall carpet in the room so that there is no injury in case of fall. Have night light switched-on 24 hours in the rooms under his use. Make sure there is nothing on the floor (like small piece of carpet or shoes)that may come in his way. Make sure his trousers/shalwar are of short length so he can wear them easily. His chair should have firm base without incline and with straight back.

Encourage him to stay active and take a little walk in the lawn daily. It is not the end of the world. Over time the patient gets used to his condition and continues to enjoy activities like reading, watching TV etc However each person and his progression of disease is different. Wish you all the best. If you like you may give your email address so we can share any useful tips in future. Brother AG thank you for the interesting tip.

Finally thanks to brother CMY for allowing such topics on this forum.

Salman Malik replied on Monday, August 22, 2011 08:21 AM PST

Dear Imran,

Sorry to hear about your father.

There is no cure for Parkinson's disease. Medication help in controlling the symptoms.

Make sure that the treating doctor is a fully qualified specialist and than stick to their advice. Unfortunately many doctors in pakistan use the word 'Consultant' even though they are not fully qualified specialists.

Patients react differently to medication so the treatment needs to be tailored according to the needs of the individual.
Do not stop or change medication on the advice of family, friends or other people on any internet forum. I am sure they have sincere intentions but they are not doctors and not fully aware of your fathers condition. No offence to anyone.

Some useful advice above by Mr MAS reagrding making the home more safe and comfortable for your father.
I can't recommend any specialist in Pakistan as I am not in Pakistan.

You might find this site useful (
www.parkinsons.org.uk), however some of the information is only relevant to patients being treated in UK.

May Allah help your father and family.

BW and stay positive.

Homeopathy can cure the disease but the success rate is very low and the main problem is that, it is hard to find a real homeopath in Pakistan, there are quakes everywhere.

AG replied on Monday, August 22, 2011 04:08 PM PST

@Raheem.

I have personal good experience with Masood Homeopathic Clinic located in Gharri Shahu Lahore & I recmmend it if some brother wants to Try Homeopathic system for any disease.

Regards.

MAS replied on Monday, August 22, 2011 08:10 PM PST

I may add here that sharing of personal experience is never meant to replace doctor's advice. It is however important for the care taker to develop a good understanding of the issue (from authentic literature and support groups if available)in order to better interact with the doctor and to properly watch out for side effects usually not explained by the doctor. Even drug interactions are sometimes overlooked by "foreign qualified" doctors. For example a neurologist(multiple FRCP from UK)prescribed Ascard to my father without asking if he was already taking low dose asprin for other reasons.

I would like to reaffirm Dr Salman Malik's important cautionary note regarding not stopping medicine on the advise of family, friends or internet forum nor should anyone offer such advice. Sticking to one qualified doctor is also important for proper monitoring of the patient.

Some more tips for Imran. For balance issues buy a walker from the drug store. That might help in walking without falling down. Use elastic bands in Shalwars so he does not have to tie "Azaarband". Here is another link that might be helpful: http://www.pdf.org/
If any reader knows about any support group for Parkinson's in Islamabad/Pindi area kindly do advise.

Imran replied on Monday, August 22, 2011 09:18 PM PST

Thank you all brothers for usefull information and wishes, and many thanks to CMY also for allowing the discussion.

Yes I know that the disease is not cureable but I needed suggestions for controlling the symptoms and making him feel better. Actually he is very dishearted by this because he used to be a very active and independent before and do all his activities by himself, not only his own works but he would always try to do our works as well which would make him feel much better, and he still tries to do different things but i stop him because of the fear that he would fall etc, this not only makes him sad but us also. The major issue he faces is the dependence i.e. he does not want to be dependent on anyone (although we all love to serve him by any means) but its human nature.

Yes I have tried the famous Sardar Alam and Dr. Adnan in peshawar also, but the problem is that all of them prescribes the same medicines which is almost of no use, that is why my father also sometime stops all medicines and says they are not working, but i somehow force him to use them. Even the later one told us that no need to come again as he has to use these medicines for the rest of his life.

Brother MAS, I am sorry about your father also. I can imagine what you would have gone through and going now. May Allah improve his health also.
Thanks for your valuable suggestions, some of them i have tried already, and will do the rest also.

Dear Halal Business Jazak Allah Khair for your kind words and advices.

During this time we need some innovative ideas to generate new businesses. Giving money to somebody to do generate money for us is a big mistake.

Please advice :

1. How to check the purity of Milk?
2. How to transport the Milk without spoiling it, and in what packing?
3. Which medium is used for the advertisement of the products and how?

Please advice so that we can proceed accordingly

SK replied on Sunday, August 21, 2011 12:06 PM PST

check SME's website, there is plenty of information there.

Halal Business replied on Sunday, August 21, 2011 01:15 PM PST

Thanks very much brothers for nice words

@ Brother MM
Really as per our experience the quality check was and still is “standing at the top of the Buffalo’s barn during milking process”.
The gravity meter will tell nothing if the milk is made heavy (I do not know how they make it denser). Heavier density/gravity, meter would show 100% purity. So meter will serve nothing and useless!
My friend used ice blocks, covered with “Borees” (Sorry for my English) with simple pedestal fans running behind the blocks and throwing cool air to the milk containers. When He was able to switch over to freezers, He had to leave on personal reasons. He was running his business from one of the rooms of his flat in I-8.
The milk from the source came through by-cycles, ran by his paid porters! Actually He paid no salary to any one except the milk producers. We all were share holders in the business
The “Maiees” (elderly women), the porters and the boys who took care of the ice block and prevented then from falling on floor as falling sound was like a blast in night. Those boys loved sleeping and being on standby duty in the cool and well air-exhausted room. We did know what was meant by load shedding in those times!
The storing was just for shorter times as his bleep was constantly texting within 20 KM of Islamabad area. There ware very rare occasions where we had to store large amount for night.

Brothers, we learned a very good business lesson and a perfectly workable tool. We thought that the sale would be a problem but for us “PURCHASE” was a problem. Sale was no problem at all, well, problem in the sense that we were not able to meet the demand. At the last season when we departed, mine selected for Gulf and him to Karachi, our mangoes were the most lucrative business.

The medium we used for the ADs was the local paper man to take our ADs to customers with free samples.
I think we have developed so much today but unfortunately not in business honesty and that s where the money lies now in Pakistan.
Let us look from this angle:

Why are we straining our eyes at the very moment and in every morning at LRE?
I did not have any experience with LRE guys regarding property selling/disposing but the way things are happening on this website, I can anticipate honesty! Yes just anticipate. I will surely try LRE if I ever have a chance to invest in Lahore, based upon just a hope of honesty, in my case!
If they are really honest guys! How much advertisement would they get, alone, from me?
I think same must be happening with Mian Nadeem Sahab, as his comments are honestly written and showing his hard work in property area.
The question about using the modern techniques, now Internet is the best medium and also old primitive ways, we used!

Small cold storage is easy and less expensive to build. Guest houses in Islamabad will never let you to deliver your pure milk to any other customer! And mangos in season and Chukki Ata And “Desi Honey” And!!! This AND will never finish, if you make yourself committed to Halal Business.
Please understand again that I am not after the monitory benefits from anyone, I cannot afford an unknown person to share with me. If I ever do, I have to go for my old friends whom I know from schools and college and have seen them and their families for decades.

Thanks

> How to check the purity of Milk?

There are some farmer-oriented "Milk Analysers" available from China, which can give pretty accurate details of milk contents like water, fats, proteins and lactose.

I think if used with occasionally a small microscope, such device may be quite difficult to dodge.

Halal Business replied on Monday, August 22, 2011 12:58 PM PST

Dear

Our profit ranged from 0 to 300%, some item totally “no gain no loss”.
But now I think good packed milk is available, one needs to start not from the milk.
Start form “Chukki Ata” and free samples of milk and other items will put the business on track.
The trick is the home delivery, the purity, the promptness in delivery, the quantity keep up, the attitude of porters towards the clients and most importantly NO salary at all. Share in the profit.
We had only a little posh area in Islamabad available for our business back in late 80’s but now sky is the limit, The Defense townships, BT, Fizaia, you name it I got it.
I think if one is looking to start from the “Ata business”, in Rawalpindi/Islamabad, the first step may be to take a plot in Rawat Industrial estate (15 Lacs, good plot). Work out the cost of a small Silo for at least 500 Mond’s (I need to work out cost, for mine). Solar cell unit (5 lacs) to keep Silo’s exhaust and lights running. Fax, phone, and call recording, Internet connection. A UPS for communication equipment back up, “Chukki Units (10 lacs)”, a good research in the local grain market for the best quality wheat delivery without interruption throughout the year, nicely printed bags, bicycles, Suzuki Vans and All certificates from ministry of food, production and whatever required to do a legal business.

AG replied on Sunday, August 21, 2011 09:45 AM PST

@A.G Chaudhary.

Dear Chaudhary.

In general Rs. 50 Lakhs is a small amount to buy/build a commercial property.

However, I think, you have a chance for long term investment in Bahria Town Lahore for a steady reasonable income.

LRE is now selling 3 marla commercial plots for 24.5 to 26.5 Lakhs in Overseas block B of Bahria Town Lahore. You can buy one & rest of the money should be enough to construct the plaza without basement. If you want to build the basement as well you will need another 15 Lakhs.

Regards.

1.Price usually varies according to
location eg Corner or Facing the Park plots are usually 10% costlier.

2. I believe these plots are ready for construction.

3. Payment has to be upfront.

4. Mr Adil Saeed of LRE is the right person to advise you on "How much time one must wait before selling the plot for profit".

5. If you intend to construct the plaza then go ahead immediately because cost of construction is increasing rapidly.

Regards.

I bought house in Pakistan by name of my mother.

@Money Recovery.

Dear Sir.

1. I live in UAE & have not much to say about the situation. However I suggest that you present the second cheque (not yet stale) & get in writing from the bank that the cheque is returned due to non availability of funds in the account.

2. I also lost more than Rs. one million which I gave to my blood relative to buy a 3 ton pick up on his advice.

3. The most important thing is that we all must be very carefull about any proposal from anybody involving money.

4. Expatriates must buy property on their own name. I know the people who bought property on their parents name & their siblings (Brothers & sisters) became partners simply because of inheritance laws. In some cases even the parents did not do the justice.

5. In general expatriates are not trained/equiped to face the real culture of fradulent tactics of people around them back at home & fall prey to their schemes losing their hard earned life savings.

Regards.

Ali Ahmad replied on Saturday, August 20, 2011 08:03 PM PST

Daer Mukhtar,

I think sector G-13 is the only CDA sector which is developing very quickly and all the basic necessaries are available over there. A proper CDA sector with the potential of good returns in very economical cost.

Why not try Anchorage where you can get very good deal in a very secure and scenic area. The Scheme is Pakistan Navy Specially developed housing scheme for its officers.

Ghori Town replied on Sunday, August 21, 2011 04:57 AM PST

Ghori town is nearest to Islamabad.

AK replied on Sunday, August 21, 2011 01:13 PM PST

G13 in developed CDA sector and Soan Garden in Zone 5 has best aspects within 2 year time frame.
