"Abhu dabi group behind the development and society" - May be this is what the trouble witn this particular society is!

Good luck to all of those who've invested in this venture ... Years have gone by and there is no hope in sight ... they are probably waiting for the next property boom to start thinking about developing the place!

Build a house
PECHS
AOA,I am in USA. I have a house in Karachi PECHS of 300 sqyd. I want to demolish and make 3 portions on that.Is it feasible to build and sell 2 portions after construction or rent out to a company because that area is in the heart of Karachi and can be use commercial purpose. The second opinion I got to sell it and invest in DHA Karachi for commercial property. Some good advice Jazak Allah,
Khalid

Faisal Naseer replied on Saturday, November 6, 2010 02:23 AM PST

AOA, my advise is that you should follow your first option of construction. It's a good
location. If it's main road you can get a good rent.

Another option is, if the house is usable (not dangerous to live in), don't demolish it, just renovate it a little and rent it to a school.

Inheritance of daughters

This is in continuation of post number 49956 which has gone to the second page. I am addressing the following to Choudhry Sahib's last reply in that post.

Dear Choudhry Sahib I am impressed by your desire to see all muslims follow the right path. Trust me I share this desire with you and thank you for giving your time.

I request you to read again my original question and the two replies that I have posted before. No where have I supported being insincere to Allah's decision. Nowhere have I talked about BEQUEST in violation of Quranic law. I have not even raised the question of bequest. Such a bequest probably has no legal value anyway.

My question was regarding GIFT that a person is allowed to give to his daughters WHILE HE IS ALIVE. From what I understand Allah has not forbidden to give gift to ANYONE not just daughters. Whether such a gift designed to protect the assets from going into the hands of daughter's cousins after the father's death amounts to insincerity towards Quranic laws of inheretance OR is it something perfectly acceptable in Islam is a big question in my mind. However this is a question of Fiqah and therefore I am not putting this question to the readers of this blog (unless some reader happens to be qualified himself or has already consulted a mufti in this matter). I think a qualified scholar would be best to answer this.

My question was that of sociology not religion. I just wanted to know what is the general practice in our society. Personally I do not know of a single case where assets have been divided between a "girl only" family and the cousins. May be other readers have different observations.

Mr Hassan and Mr Shahid thank you for spoiling this post by starting a different topic within it. We are indeed a very educated and disciplined nation.

With respect replied on Thursday, November 4, 2010 08:06 PM PST

shahid replied on Friday, November 5, 2010 12:56 AM PST

dear question. Kindly vist Jamia asherfia for getting fatwa. they have all facility in this regard and give in writting every clearifcation with written references.

Hassan replied on Friday, November 5, 2010 12:46 PM PST

My opinion stands with Mr. Shahid on the reply of Mr. Question and I think that there is no need to comment on his reply as is irrelevant and waistage of time. Now we should focus on the relevant issues i.e. only on property for which this site/forum has been created.

Mr. Shahid, Plaese clarify, whether your statement means that Bahria Orchard has no future in any times i.e. now or in subsequent years and they are misleading the people on this particlaur scheme.

Secondly, plaese also clarify your statement"remaining 60% sell their file for merger", as there are number of readers which are new or not aware of the property issues done by the various town developers.

Information replied on Friday, November 5, 2010 01:31 PM PST

The divine justness and equitability of the Islamic laws of inheritance have been correctly appreciated by many non-Muslim scholars such as Professor Almaric Rumsey () of King's College, London, the author of many works on the subject of the Muslim law of inheritance and a barrister-at-law, who stated that the Muslim law of inheritance, "comprises beyond question the most refined and elaborate system of rules for the devolution of property that is known to the civilised world.1"

Question replied on Friday, November 5, 2010 01:34 PM PST

.Dear 'With respect' you have raised a valid point that I must answer. I have taken the liberty to raise this issue on this forum for two reasons which are as follows:

1. This site appears to be somewhat flexible about the topic of discussion as long as it has some general usefulness. Moderators seem to show this flexibility on an "off and on" basis probably to keep the site interesting with a variety of topics. However if they delete this post I would have no complaint at all.

2. The topic of inheritance is not completely divorced from property discussions because most inheritance is regarding real estate. Although the chances are close to zero but it is not impossible that you may be buying your next property on which the cousins of the owner may have claims due to factors discussed in this topic. It can't hurt to beware of such possibility. So you see I have managed to defend this topic as a property related subject (smile).

Omair I am thankful to you and all other brothers who have offered help with understanding the Islamic rules. Really it was very kind of you, Choudhry Sahib, Aamir and many others. However I basically wanted to discuss the social aspect of this issue. How real people in real life are handling this issue. Islamic fatwas can only tell you these options are right and these options are wrong. But to choose between various right options a little social discussion can help.

Hassan and Shahid bhai: Sorry for my harsh comment yaar. I guess I have already received so many helpful replies from Jameel and many others. We may now close this topic. I will certainly check out the fatwa sites. Thank you all.

pardesifr replied on Friday, November 5, 2010 01:53 PM PST

Mr Hassan, what was the issue to create a new thread instead of hijacking his which has nothing to do with you Orchand.

And Mr Question question is realted to property. Did you atleast read it before posting your reply ?

At lease accept your mistake, instead of been stuben and continue to go offtopic on his topic.

Question replied on Friday, November 5, 2010 03:24 PM PST

Pardesifr bhai I want to give full respect to your opinion but tell me how can I do that when I see your non-property related reply to a non-property related post right on this very page. May I quote your comments on the quality of governance in post number 50003. Your reply there is as follows: “So true and last one is one of sign of Qyamat”

Please don’t mind my mentioning it but you posted this reply exactly 3 minutes after giving your harsh judgment on my post.

pardesifr replied on Friday, November 5, 2010 05:37 PM PST

Mr Question : My comment was to defend you and against Mr Hassan. I thiink you took it wrong

My mistake i did not go to next line for second part of my second line, sorry it was for Mr Hassan , telling him that your question is related to property. And that he was doing offtopic post in your topic.

Sorry for confusion

Question replied on Friday, November 5, 2010 07:23 PM PST

Okay pardesifr bhai I see your point. Thank you for your understanding regarding my post. We can all have a good laugh about these little confusions and differences in opinions. Best wishes to all especially Hassan and Shahid.

Effects of Reformed GST on Common Man

I Want to share the effects that the Reformed GST would have on the common man in Pakistan. As you all know that vendors, producers, manufacturers have already increased prices of all basic necessities such as rice, flour, meat, milk by 20-50% during the last 6 months. According to a report, prices of all commodities during September 2010 have increased by 56% as compared to September 2009 and this price hike is endless.

Here is an illustration of as to how a common man is going to be effected by GST.

Yesterday I went to Metro and purchased goods worth Rs. 1525. 17% GST was applicable on only a few items amounting to 28 Rupees. However when reformed GST is going to be implemented, the GST would amount to 275 rupees as it would be applicable to all items that you commonly use in your daily lives.

So if your monthly expenses are Rs. 10,000. After the implementation of reformed GST, your montly expenses would increase to 11,800. You will pay 1800 Rs. tax to government just for using basic necessities.

Similarly if your montly expenses are Rs. 20,000. After GST your total expenses would be 23600. You will pay 3600 Rs. tax to government just for using basic necessities.

and so on......

I am not against taxes. We all should pay taxes. What strikes badly is the misuse of taxes !

We_Poor_Pakistanis replied on Thursday, November 4, 2010 10:09 PM PST

These Taxes are shifted to Europe asap for the rest they buy Bullet-Proof cars.

$260 billion gold mines going for a song, behind closed doors

Special Report By Shaheen Sehbai
WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD: Quietly, and below the media radar, some 20 top corporate bosses and lobbyists of two of the world’s largest gold mining groups have been meeting President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani, Governor State Bank and others in Islamabad throughout last week, pressing them to quickly hand over one of the world’s biggest gold and copper treasures found in Balochistan at Reko Diq, worth over $260 billion, to their companies, and for peanuts.
Before these highly enticing visits of the mining tycoons to clinch the deals, which followed intense behind-the-scene negotiations and bargaining through middle men, some highly bizarre developments have been taking place, leaving experts and the rest of the mining world stunned, amazed and confused.
