Alas! Pakistan is transiting through a sever test. Words & phrases are getting insufficient to depict the true feelings. By keeping the hopes alive as it is from Allah & He will get us out of it courageously, here I need to emphasize on the following 2 points:

1. We have to face it jointly as a nation.
2. Despite all this the shams, fraud, fake, ruthless tyrants & corrupt elites will continue to hurt our integrity.

The best way to get united is to recite & strictly follow Quran & Sunnah. If we are able to hold this rope tightly together rest assure that the other side of this rope is held by Allah. This will motivate the depressed & affected on one hand & will boost up the efforts of the volunteers. Moreover, it keeps the hopes alive & disciplines our lives to be patient. Those who are trying to help in this catastrophe should organize themselves on their own platform even if the Govt. is unwilling to make an independent commission.

These shams, fraud, fake, ruthless tyrants & corrupt elites do not want ordinary people to stand on their feet so that they continue to exploit them & enjoy their luxurious lives. They do not want an independent commission to become hope for the suffering humanity & expose them but still Allah has exposed them. They are busy with their luxuries, lust & safeguarding their assets. Alhamdulillah, the brighter side is that Allah has rewarded many kind-hearted people with money & status & they are contributing to this noble cause of relief to the flood victims convincingly from within Pakistan & abroad as well. Please disassociate yourself from these corrupts & join your hands together to get Pakistan out of this crises & towards the ultimate prosperity.

Dear Lre many thanks for your efforts to help the flood affected brothers & sisters. I am just curious how was your fund raising effort. I mean did u experience a lot of people coming forward to help or u got a poor response from this sites visitors or your customers. Plz share. Your input may help others who r trying to generate help for the flood victims.

The response was not very good, in fact very disappointing. We did not very actively pursue the donors. We urged them to do the necessary help and distribution themselves, if possible, and donate if they could not diretly approach the needy themselves.

We took goods of appx. worth of Rs. 800,000 (+ packaging, labour, transportation, etc. appx. 30 thousand. One of the trucks’ rental was donated by the goods transport company and other rental we had to pay) So altogether our total expense was appx. Rs. 830,000. Most of it was collected from immediate family and friends without much persuasion. (Please also note due to our special efforts we were able to get special discount rates and/or additional products from suppliers, and practically arranged appx. Rs, 10 Lacs worth of food items/goods for only Rs. 8 Lacs.)

The only reason we asked general donors to help was to give those people a chance to participate who had a desire to help but had no direct means to reach the needy flood victims. We placed an ad/announcement on Friday, August 13, 2010 04:33 PM PST giving appx. departure time of Tuesday. From Friday till Monday AM we did not receive any donation or promise to donate, not even a single call or email to even inquire about it or suggest anything. It was very disappointing for us.

What? Total 4 contributors among this community of thousands?
(including some six thousand clients who are directly in touch with LRE):

On Monday PM a client Mr. Anwar from Lahore came to our office and donated Rs. 10,000 cash. And Monday night we received a call from Mr. Abid from Canada who had sent Rs. 40,250 through a bank which we received on Tuesday. That was quite a boost to our dwindling hope. And, on Tuesday Mr. Adeel from Lahore donated Rs. 10,000. So in all till our departure total donations from LRE website visitors/clients was only 10+40.25+10 = sixty thousand two hundred and fifty. Moreover, another brother Mr. Ashfaq from Saudi Arabia who had called late on Tuesday and wanted to help has sent Rs. 123,000 which we have not received yet but it is in the pipeline (bank's processing time). It may take a few days and we may have to redirect that to some relief organization in consultation with the donor. (We thank these brothers, and all other family members/friends who donated, from the depth of our hearts.)

So, to answer your question, in general the response to our appeal to our website community and LRE customers was unexpectedly disappointing and discouraging. Perhaps we did not give potential donors enough time or perhaps some people did not trust us. As far as the trust is concerned, it is a sign of our honesty that we stopped accepting donations once we achieved our immediate target. If we had any bad intentions we would have wanted more funds. In fact, we are worried about some surplus funds that we now have and are thinking either to refund to the donor so that they can donate to some other organization themselves or we donate it on their behalf and provide them the receipt. (BTW, we are fully accountable to any of the donors, anytime. Our Collection and Distribution has been as transparent as it can be.)

Please note: Some people have objected that why we displayed banners on trucks, and why we showed pictures, etc.? Well there are three purposes:

1) To encourage others to do the same. (e.g. Several more trucks are being arranged at this point of time at the same facility where we did the packing etc., by people who we do not know directly but who saw us doing this humble effort.)

2) To satisfy the donors that their donations reached the needy

3) To give the people a first-hand witness account of the conditions of the flood affected areas.

Now, what are the best options?

We are not taking any more donations and now we are urging brothers to help the needy themselves or send their donations to their trustworthy organizations specializing in this kind of relief work, e.g. Pukar (Imran Khan + Jang Group), Army Flood Relief Fund, Eidhi Foundation, or choose from various other. Just make sure you can trust them. There are a lot of mushrooming small scale setups some of which may be honest and some may be corrupt. It is your duty to donate and it is also your duty to try your best to make sure your donations reach the needy.

LRE: No need to get disappointed. You were working without benchmarks. In my workplace, the response was more or less the same in the first 10 days of call. i.e 7% of people offering donations. Following a followup mail, the number grew to around 20%. Over the last week, when we announced that people from our own company would be distributing the goods and decide where to give goods, the enthusiasm has come in and the amount has doubled and crossed what got collected for the IDPs and almost 60% of population is participating.
Also, let us remember, economic condition of the donors themselves is not what it was in 2007. The disposable income has eroded considerably following super inflation of 2008 & 2009 without corresponding increase in incomes. So let us not underestimate the will to donate. It may be circumstances at the moment. More help will continue down the line.

Actually i have already contributed before LRE plan.I believe same will be with others.Here,on this forum everybody is dealing with property and is well off (By the grace of GOD).Its not matter of trust what u felt and really its not at all understanding of trust on LRE & you specially for this noble cause.
I hope above will suffice my point of view and you and LRE team will not be disappointed.
In future,depending upon scenario,it seems we may need to help more to flood victims due to heavy losses and i assure you my full support in advance.

Please dont be that disappointed. just to give you my example, the truth is i decided to donate second and third time after seeing the pictures you fellows posted here (just because of the fact that media also exaggerate the things so you cant even believe them so truly). i didnt even need to mention it but doing it just for your comfort. It is not a distrust at all it was just a matter of convenience how people wanted to disperse the money. We know you have a kind heart and your feelings of this kind make us sad. smile now. :)

My sources also confirm DC rate have been changed for PV files and
plots to same as DHA 8 proper and now transfer rate for Park view
files will be same as DHA 8. Official notification will be made during
early next weak.

DHA 9 DC rate issue is very likely to be solved during early next weak
and max transfer cost of DHA 9-10 may not exceed 1.54 lacs

The only political party that we saw very actively helping the flood victims at various places was Pakistan Tehreek -e- Insaf. Their workers and volunteers seemed very charged to help the flood victims.

Some smaller organizations and parties also showed their (very little) presence but amazingly we did not see any workers or leaders from two major parties PPP and PML N actively helping the flood victims anywhere. It looked like no such parties exist. Our prime minister belongs to this area. We don't know where did the local and national politician, nazims, MNAs, MPAs, etc go.

On our way from Lahore to Muzaffargarh we saw and passed many trucks (private good transport companies owned) with Army Flood Relief banners travelling south towards Multan. Later we saw similar or same trucks in Bheera perhaps going towards Dera Ghazi Khan. Some of those trucks also had a computer printed sheet on the windscreen with DHA Lahore visible on those sheets. We mention this as an eye witness account that aid given to army is moving to the disaster areas.

Apart from the trucks with Army Relief banners we saw some trucks from Pakistan Tehreek -e- Insaf just like the truck in this picture. You can read "Tehreek -e- Insaf Paksitan" written in Urdu on the back of this truck. We also saw PTI Insaaf Tandoors/Dastarkhwan in the flood affectees' camps e.g. in "Wapda Town/Thermal Colony" opposite Muzaffargarh thermal power plant.
