I think that primarily its parents duty to safeguard their childern from such filth. I have locked all the channels that air moral wrecking stuff in my house and allow my kids to watch only light entertainments like cartoons, light but modest comedy, some fiction and few informative channels like discovery, animal planet,etc.We as Muslims are supposed to imbibe teachings of islam and instill deep religious thoughts in our children alongwith the worldly education. It helps them in growing up as individuals who are aware of their religious obligations and yet equally educated to impart their role / duties in the society.

what did you think was gona happen, people in Pakistan are so surrounded by problems mainly with the lack of income that they use Cable TV as a way out, our youngsters watch these movies and follow the actors. The mobile companies have reduced the price of calls and SMS's so much that our young generation has nothing to do but to talk and chat with the opposite sex, even the people who don't have money to go to school. more than 70% of the population is unable to get proper nutritional food to sustain there body.

Despite that we dont have resources for proper living resources, yet it is a duty of the parents to ensure that their childrens are not taking wrong path. There could be initial reaction in the family if you stop the indian channels, especially star plus etc, but I would say sustain that pressure for the sake of the family.
Amicabley let them know that it it not our religion, not our culture, not our values.
I have already done this in my family, and believe me it works. All childrens wants their parenst attention and time.

Is this Indian governments duty to block Pakistani channels? This is not passing buck. Our government must act to block this culture yalghar on our society. On star plus indian just show the prettiest woman and wealthiest families which is less than .001% of indian population. In fact india is full of ugly and hungary population which you dont see on star plus. Hence our young generation is being brainwashed into thinking that indian culture and society is better than Pakistan. All they see on star plus is some cute chicks in 50 thousand rs a piece saaris parroting 100 crore this 100 crore that all the time. calculating the Odds of winning a plot in DHA 8
After closely looking at the "hi-res" map of DHA 8, I have noticed the following facts:

S - Block 1072 plots
T - Block 1885 plots
U - Block 827 plots
V - Block 1541 plots
W - Block 870 plots
X - Block 1270 plots
Y - Block 720 plots (5 & 10 marla)

In total there are 7465 plots of 1kanal & 2kanal ONLY. The question that we need to ask is that how many files were already issued by DHA 8 as every file holder will get a plot anyways. (somebody mentioned this number to be 5000. Can anyone please verify this?).

But if this number is true than the remaining 2,465 plots is what everyone is competing for, which seems a very very low chance.

it appears that DHA has yet to buy lands in DHA phase 8 area. it also suggests that there will be additions in the map as well. Moreover, it is very clear that there will be no merger of any more society in DHA.

For friends who are considering applying for a 5 marla and 10 marla plot in DHA phase 8, there is something that you should keep in mind. I will strongly recommend you to hop on a bike or an SUV and visit the site designated for 5 marla and 10 marla plots ( you can see it on google earth as well). There are very deep pits in that site. I know this area well and that site used to supply soil to Lahore and other major brick kilns near Lahore. I don't have exact figure but in some areas the excavation is more than 30 feet deep. Now it is my understanding that when developing the area, DHA will not fill the whole site to bring it to level with the roads. I will not be surprised if an owner of a 5 marla or 10 marla plot in that area will have to pay almost 5 lacs rupees or more just to fill his plot with soil to get it to road level before construction. CMY and other with construction experience can correct me on this number.

Well very good observation i would also mention that similar land is also visible even when one travel on DHA Expressway .some areas are very deep as if they were intentionally dig and the area according to map shows one kanal plots.....

DHA will never give plots that deep. Road level or upto a couple feet deep is normal. In some case may be 3 to 5 feet. But DHA never gives plots so deep as mentioned by this poster. DHA is not a joke. They have nearly 40 years history of satisfied residents. The contractors are paid to make and compact fillings where needed.

All ballots have that as a condition that physical shape and levels are not guaranteed. It may however be compensated by allowing single/two levels of basement. It is pretty common in Karachi.

I remember 3 years ago on MB of Phase 6 in a gathering arranged by DHA, it was announced that balloting of DHA phase 8 will be done by Dec 2007. it was not done in 2007 and now is being done in 2010. Phase 5 K and L blocs are 5-12 feet down and owners have to fill up the plots. phase 8 owners of plots should not expect DHA to level their plots and should plan accordingly. DHA is no more a welfare organization, it works on the principals of successful real estate business. investors and clients should plan accordingly.

The truth is in K and L block DHA has done a lot of filling and compaction. I visited the area at start of development and it was a disaster. At some places it was so deep that even double basement would not make up for the depth. But now you can go there and see the difference with your own eyes. They have done most major filling and compaction in K and L blocks. Kind of made a history and a challenge for other developers. But to property realize the scale of filling and compaction done you should have visited the conditions in pre development stage. If someone has seens the Ravians land before developement of K and L blocks he can realize the difference made there.

Phase 7 before the ballot 36 lacs ki file and 9 lac development charges = 45 lacs and the majority of the plots in Phase 7 are worth less than 35 lacs even today 3.5 years after the ballot. This is too much of a risk for a chance of a few lacs of profit.

Dear lets not forget that the country's macro economy has been hit hard since 2006 when DHA 7 ballot happened. It has been a very difficult time especially last 2.5 years. Using the same logic on DHA 8 ballot is not Wise as many factors can improve or start to improve any time with some wise steps. Of course things can also regress further but comparing 2006 to 2010 and making conclusions at this worst kind of time does not seem wise at all. Life does not end here.

You are practically saying that you are 100% sure things will get worse from here till say 2014 at the same ratio and scale as 2006 to 2010. Well nobody knows the future but things seem to be at worst point. Particularly in property there are many examples where the things are already stable or well above their bottom prices. For long term investors this is the time to buy. There must be something solid out there that despite current conditions kind of worse than even Iraq things are still well above there bottom prices and stable which is really great sign of the hidden value, strength and great potential.

Looking at the map of DHA 8 and seeing the current prices of phase 7 and 6, I dont think an average plot in DHA 8 should be 55, May be 50 is modest figure. But as many people will be buying at 55 so demand will stay like this for many years.
I can give example of DHA homes in park view, 3.5 ys back i was having temptation to book one but I could not. Now I can buy same house in 40% Discount [i am taking of Foreign currency], same is true for DHA homes which were booked in one cror 6 years back. In Pakistan people usually dont decrease the price lesser than buying cost, but they can wait 10 years when actual value of Currency will be only 1/4.

Positive bhai the thing is that even if Zardari goes he would have left Pakistan in the biggest economic and social crisis in Pakistan's history. Who will come after him, Nawaz Sharif :) he too is like zardari but a bit more educated. Unless a leader such as Quaid-e-Azam is coming any time soon I don't see any improvement. DHA 8's rates will defiantly go down or stay the same after the ballot but they will never go up. I also think for a 3-5 years investment DHA 6 is the best bet.

Property prices are rising by the day specially in Dha lahore! Dha lahore website is also showing much higher rates for even dha phase 7 ( eg. V and W block rates are from 38 lacs to 48 lacs). Commercial plot rates have also shot up ! Better days ahead...

Certainly, a hugely live website. CMY has a great great IT team. Even large government organization cannot maintain a Dynamic website with so much info and interactivity.
