the golden rule is when the interest rates decrease the stock market and

Stock market will crash pretty soon once Greece, Italy and rest of Euro defaults. All you can do is to short everything in stock market or capture some company stocks who you think will still be around in 5 years.

As far as property prices go, crappy economy in the west will drive inflation to 3rd world countries i.e. Pakistan. Hence, if you wanna ride inflation wave, real estate is the way to go.

Agreed with all above arguments. But what do you say about SILICONE VALLEY?
They used the hard earned money of people for more than a year without even a trace of society and later returned the money that too after 5% deductions. What is the guarantee that they are not going to do that again? ... can you give example of any of above builders doing the same with investers?

U will find similar price for other plots in DHA Town Phase 9; however, they could be slightly lower as the buyer has to pay full price in advance. Also, it is rare to find an actual seller in DHA Town Phase 9, so it is not easy to determine the rate with no sellers.

I think the craze of DHA is going to be diluted with the upcoming socities like Bahria Town by offering at least the same or better facilities at much lower prices. It is therefore strongly suggested to only go for developed possessioned plots, no files or future promises.

A carefull analysis of the societies along the canal road beyond Thokar Niaz Baig will show that these societies in fact belong to "Middle Class" segment of Pak. society. Bahria Town, in particular, have facilitated the middle class & brought them fantastic housing schemes with wonderfull educational institutions.
Middle class, usually, has been responsible for positive ecnomoic revolution any where in the world. China & India are the most recent examples.

So let us pray to Allah (SWT) to bless us with the same & help poverty alleviation.

Perhaps, Mr. Naseem is talking about the renovation of Sara Textile (Mohlanwal), situated at the entrance bridge of Bahria Town Lahore. The premises and infrastructure of that factory may be converted into campus of Imperial College of Business.

It is simply guess work, may be true may be not.

House buying advice,
Other than looking at papers and society/location etc, pls bear in mind that if you buy a new house, you are paying more than 1/2 amount for Building. Recently one of my friend bought new house and after few months he learnt that all the bath rooms are badly leaking, within few months of use it is evident that this problem is beyond repair,
My advice either build your own house or buy slightly used house, which can make you sure how house looks after few years of use. Pay special attention to renovated houses texture paint and false ceiling are mostly done to hide damp or bath leaks

In fact something similar to this happened to me as well. I bought a house in Islamabad in 2007 when the prices were at the peak. Later it turned out to be a constant source of headache for me. I had to get replaced all the pipes, bathrooms fittings, floor tiles and some wooden doors frames etc. It cost me doubled man .... now nobody is willing to buy this house even at my intial paid price. What to do ...

EME is good housing scheme. It is good for making a new house. If buying for investment purpose only its not a very good option compare to other options available in Canal bank road area.
