Help on wateen number

My friend live in Barcelona. I use Skype otherwise cell phone cost very high from both end. Someone told me that phone call on landline is very cheap from almost all European countries. Can someone guide if Wateen phone (attached with broadband modem) fall in the category of landline? Or any other option as I don’t have PTCL landline.

Thanks

Qudoos replied on Thursday, June 2, 2011 04:54 PM PST

One Suggestion:
Ask your friend to make two minutes call such that one minute on any PTCL landline and one minute on Wateen number and compare the charges. It will 100% confirms you that wehter Wateen falls in landline category or not?

Do share your experience on this webpage for others benefit also.

Thanks

respected khawaja sab please tell us in details that what is voip service.can we use it from uae as call is very expensive from uae to pakistan.how we can get this service.

Basharat replied on Thursday, June 2, 2011 09:02 PM PST

I am using Barintel service from Qatar and satisfied with the service. It can be used anywhere in the world provided you have fast internet connection. You need to:

1- Get VOIP device from Brain Tel Lahore office situated in Iqbal Town which will cost you about Rs 5000/- (One time cost)
2- You need to deposit Rs 5000/- security (One time cost)
3- You need to buy ADSL wireless modem (Will cost your around AED 300)
4- Need some configuration to configure ADSL modem and device.
5- Bye a standard phone to connect to device
6- Use this phone as normal phone. You will get a Lahore number, so, any body who need to call you from Pakistan, will dial that local number.
7- You can dial any number in Pakistan as you will dial within Pakistan
8- Per minute call costs around Rs 5 when you call to Pakistan.

Soofi_RYD replied on Thursday, June 2, 2011 10:55 PM PST

Braintel and other VoIP (Voice over IP) services are stopped in UAE and Oman by Teleco, But can be used if some knows, how to establish the VPN connection.

Qudoos replied on Friday, June 3, 2011 06:16 PM PST

Use PTCL Vfone, it is considered 100% landline for incoming overseas calls.

Shahid Saab,

AOA......I am living in West Yorkshire England and ring Pakistan pretty regularly. The best way to tell if a certain telephone number is a Landline or not is from its Dialing Code. For instance if it carries (0)42 Dialing Code (Lahore) then it is a Landline, regardless of the service provider ie. PTCL or World Call. We, in England, are very lucky. We can get free sims of various providers and ring Pakistan Landline for 1 pence/minute and a mobile number for just 4 pence/minute at all times. Current Pound rate is approx.
PRS 138. But I still prefer mighty free Skype with video. And that is also available on my iphone. WSalam

Dear Mr. Qureshi, Why are you so particular about DHA 2. Why don't you go for proper CDA sector like D 12 and buy a smaller plot which would give far better return financially and for living also would be much better. My own judgement! No offence.
Thanks

DHA Living replied on Saturday, June 4, 2011 03:13 AM PST

There is no comparison between living in DHA and CDA!
Cleanliness, security, maintenance, garbage disposal, water availability are just few among others.
Life is for once and why you are suggesting the man to go for CDA?
As I said that life is only for once, no doubt that property in CDA never goes down but we need to decide that there must be a point in life where we must opt for living in a nice locality not business and money earning in everything!
DHA has dropped by at least 25 lacs (a one Kanal Plot) but if you see living, DHA or BH still the best.
For example, in BT or DHA, your family is out for walking in late hours, for example after 10 PM, security motorcycles will definitely come on seen at a distance.
Education facilities transport and of course living in a capital has all plus sides but again, if you can afford nice living, go for the place, where you belong, the DHA or BT. You will be paying only Rs 1300 for all the facilities provided in DHAI.
Also write my words: Within next 3-4 years, DHA/TY will be on par with CDA non-VIP sectors, as now investment versus rent are already matching!

Dear CMY, Jameel, Hussain, and All,
aoa,

We are constructing one Kanal house in Sector C Bahria Town Lahore and are worried about the potential increase in the prices of cement and steel. Please comment on "the cement and steel prices" in the coming budget. What are the chances of price increase?

Currently, DG cement is available Rs. 380/ per bag and Model or Saeed Steel at Rs. 71000/- per ton. Would you recommend pre-budget purchase of cement and steel, in anticipation that prices would go on higher side?

Thanking you in anticipation

God bless you.

Selection can be upon below usage:

1.Simple Internet usage and online study purpose ………… i3 or i5 with 2GB RAM configuration is more than Enough

2.Design Architect and high Graphics application usage…i7 with 6 GB RAM would be Fine with good Video RAM.

kindly note: Processor speed is not only the factor in selection, It also had RAM and BUS speed. where the data for processing is comes from, to the processor. If the pipe line diameter is small, high speed pumps would not fetch more water.

DHA5 is very well populated and looks great today with all the greenery and painted footpaths etc. DHA5 was in same state 2 years ago just like DHA6 is today.

There is still ton of work left in DHA6 that need to be done. Like parks need to get developed. Trees need to be get planted on road sides. Street poles need to be installed on many streets. Main holes need to be covered on many places etc.

Is it true or just a rumer about such high no-construction charges?

Javed replied on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 07:20 PM PST

Yes that is true. 4th year fine for 10 marla is Rs 2500/month and for one kanal & above is Rs 3500/month but after that (from 5th year) it is Rs 12500/month for 10 marla and Rs 25000/month for one kanal & above. That is the reason for huge construction activities in BT, good for the residents but not charming for investors.

Punjab govt ready to present Rs 651b budget

Punjab govt ready to present Rs 651b budget

LAHORE - The Punjab government is ready to present its Rs 651 billion budget for the next fiscal year during the second week of June in the Punjab Assembly, Pakistan Today learned on Tuesday.
The Punjab government has earmarked Rs 432.5 billion for revenue expenditures and Rs 219 billion for the Annual Development Programme (ADP). Official budgetary estimates indicate that the total budget outlay for fiscal year 2011-12 would be Rs 651 billion, which shows an increase of Rs 71 billion (12.72 percent) from the current financial year’s budget estimates. The Rs 432.5 billion allocated to revenue expenditures against budget estimates of Rs 386.8 billion for financial year 2010-11 represents an increase of Rs 45.7 billion (11.8 percent).
Similarly, the estimated Rs 219 billion for ADP is Rs 25.50 billion (13.18 percent) higher than the previous year’s budget estimates. Official documents point out that the provincial government has frozen all employee-related expenditures at the level of budget estimates 2010-11. However, based on the budget estimates for FY 2010-11, growth has been projected at the rate of 5.4 percent on account of normal increment in employees’ salaries from BPS-1 to BPS-16, and recurring cost of transfer of development programmes to non-development budget after completion of schemes.
In addition, the provincial government has allocated Rs 5.2 billion for the chief minister’s package for medical professionals. The Punjab government has also set aside funds for sanctioning of posts in social sector development initiatives and cost of devolution of ministries transferred to provinces as a consequence of the 18th Amendment. Official documents point out that the maintenance of public infrastructure has been ignored in the last few years.
It highlights that to avoid massive capital investment, the provincial government has decided to increase the allocations for maintenance and repair of public infrastructure related to irrigation, power, public building and highways, among others. Figures indicate that the Punjab government has earmarked an additional Rs 4 billion for the budget estimates of FY 2010-11.
The documents reveal that the government has earmarked Rs 17 billion for clearance of pending liabilities for food subsidies. Furthermore, considering the persistent inflationary trends, the government has allocated Rs 2.5 billion to utilities and petroleum products. In the social sector, the Punjab government has allocated Rs 6.3 billion for the provision of free medicine in public hospitals and for dietary expenses of prisoners in the jails of Punjab.
Figures state that under the Punjab Education Sector Programme, Rs 4.7 billion has been set aside for stipends to girls, free textbooks and management of public sector schools through councils. In addition, the provincial government has decided to protect allocations to the Punjab Education Foundation and Punjab Endowment Fund in fiscal year 2011-12. It has earmarked Rs 8 billion to finance both projects through the development budget. In the infrastructure sector, the government has planned to continue various initiatives related to housing, livestock, industry, transport and municipal services (solid waste management).
Figures reveal that Rs 7 billion has been allocated to these schemes. Considering the pending formation of the new Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) for local governments, the Punjab government has allocated around Rs 20 billion to local governments. The documents state that primary healthcare and school education is a devolved function and employee-related expenditures of these sectors have grown substantially over the year, so it requires substantial funding.

Bank Lockers

Yesterday our house got theft in the absence of my family, fortunately they were not able to break main “Safe” holding Jeweler but they took petty cash and few other things.
We are now planning to keep Jewelery in Bank Lockers and would request you to please comment whether the Bank lockers are securE? Which bank is more reliable and what is annual cost?

Some one told us not to keep jewelry in Bank Lockers as per their experience they got lost because some corrupt bank officials were involve in stealing.

Please give your comments and experience.

Thanks and Regards,

Any bank which is close to your place of living is safe and fine. Getting a locker is usually not easy because most of the branches have pending demands. If you have an account in the branch/bank then it is not that hard. The charges which depend on the size of the locker are usually deducted directly from your bank account. You can have the option of more than one person operating the locker. I have been using this facility for almost 30/40 years and know many who have been using it without any incident. To say that bank has fraudulently stolen any thing just can no happen. It can be operated only with TWO keys. You have one and the bank has the other. May be when you have more than one person authorized to operate it, and some one from amongst those can play mischief.Banks can only break the locker to open it. That would happen if for example you lose the key, because there is no DUPLICATE.

I hope I have added some clarity to the doubt.Good Luck.

Isnt there a loophole that rogue bank staff member make a duplicate of my key before giving locker and key to me and then when I put my stuff in use that key along with their second key to steal. I think its just based on the credibility of the bank and does not usually happen as otherwise there will be many people complaining, however I dont think it is fool proof and safe. Probably relatively safe at some banks and less safe at other banks depending on the staff and human factor. There is also a chance of an old user of the locker having made duplicate key before returning the locker and can access the area by getting new locker and steal from the old locker as I think in all or some cases the banks key may be common to more than one locker or compartment of lockers.

I am not sure. If others think it is fool proof, secure and nto dependand on humans honesty or dishonesty please elaborate as it will be helpful to many.
