Garbage‏

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean he was really friendly. So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.
Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a garbage-free day!

The Punjabi Story of Valentine's Day‏!

The Punjabi Story of Valentine's Day. In spite of what you have been told
by everyone, the truth is that Valentine's Day originated hundreds of years
ago, in India, and to top it all, in Punjab!!

It is a well known fact that Punjabi men continually mistreat and disrespect
their wives. One fine day, it happened to be the 14th day of February, one brave
Punjaban, having had enough "torture" by her husband, finally chose to
rebel by beating him up with a Velan (rolling pin).

Yes....the same Velan which she used daily, to make chapattis for him....only
this time, instead of the dough, it was the husband who was flattened. This was
a momentous occasion for all Punjabi women and a revolt soon spread, like wild
fire, with thousands of housewives beating up their husbands with the
Velan.

There was an outburst of moaning "chapatti-ed" husbands all over
Jallandhar and Chandigarh. The Punjabi men-folk quickly learnt their lesson and
started to behave more respectfully with their wives.

Thereafter, on 14th February, every year, the womenfolk of Punjab would beat up
their husbands, to commemorate that eventful day. The wives having the
satisfaction of beating up their husbands with the Velan and the men having the
supreme joy of submitting to the will of the women they loved. Soon the Punjabi
men realized that in order to avoid this ordeal they need to present gifts to
their wives....they brought flowers and sweetmeats. Hence the tradition began.

As Punjab fell under the influence of Western culture, that day was called
'Velan time' day. The ritual soon spread to Britain
and many other
Western countries, specifically, the catch words 'Velan time!'. Of
course in their foreign tongues, it was first pronounced to 'Velantime'
and then to 'Valentine'. And thereafter, 14th of February, came to be
known as Valentine's Day !!

Well said. Let us all pray we do not become garbage truck, but sometimes I have a feeling i unload my feeling on unrelated people.

This reminds me turkish story of a man who mudered a bus driver for 50cents. The author then goes back to that person's miserable day all day having lost a lot of money and other things and truck was getting full. In the evening it needed only 50cents dispute and sadely truck was unloaded.

It was not right to join long march when you are in government in punjab and in opposition in the capital. Nawaz actually wants election, that's why he has played this game.

As netral person I dont see anyone leading the nation except NS.

He was thrown out, he was robbed, SC judge Iftikhar was thrown out, judges have been sold ..............from wheting all there justice to come. You want to hand over the power to a civil dictator ZARDARI OR GADARI to do anything with nation. He is smart man putting rights for him and doesnt want check on him. Placing his people. He is characterless person. You all want him to secure and tommorrow he will sell Pakistan that all of us even wont come to know.

Is he right choice for PK.........???????/ Every body ash himself/herself. He has full capability to sell Pakistan. He has never been loyal to his country at all. Let have check and balance and let someone else to come other than Zadari.

There is a need of revolution which should come for betterment even we have to sacrifise.

Although i don't like this government, still i believe going against this government will eventually harm Pakistan and our enemies will take advantage of it, avoid this Long March for the sake of Pakistan.

Mr progress, instead of naimng the places, as a nation we need to look why this is happening, how long we will keep on naming the places, this is sheer stupidity. Name the place after an incident, forget about it and carry on with your life. What a bunch of idiots we are as a nation.

FM replied on Thursday, March 5, 2009 11:01 AM PST

Great sacrifice was given by police for protecting Sri Lankan
team however I feel that the Liberty Chok should be renamed as SRI LANKA SQUARE.

eh replied on Thursday, March 5, 2009 01:00 PM PST

Lierty Chowk is the right name, as nothing is dear to us than Liberty. Shaeeds( Martyres) are for Pakistan to protect our Liberty.

I would differ with "Nawaz Sharif" on his suggested name as it should be "Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto NRO Shaheed".

What the hell is goin on, people are trying to steal everything for their gains. All Government funded schemes are named for their political agendas, like Benazir Income support fund. If PPP, his supporters and Zardari(now 100%) are so sincere to her, let them bring all her stolen wealth to Pakistan for this program, then I would be the first who will contribute to this and it will breally bring her good name and show their sympathy to the Poor People of Pakistan. These cheap pathetic's would never becom humans.

For me Zulifqar Ali Bhutto was the only political leader in Pakistan to embrass shahadat knowingly that he will be killed but never compromised, Benazir Bhutto become a leader because she was his daughter and can never be compared with him as she does not posess the wisdom what ZABhutto had. But all the PPP is ignoring this fact and trying to boost Benazir Bhutto for the continuity of Zardari Kingdom.

See how pathetically and shamefully they changed the name of Bilawal Bhutto. Is there any end to the lust of power.

Please, take care when you vote against Zardari clan than don't divide your vote, as it happen during the 2007 elections. Votes of PML were divided among Nawaz Muslim league and Quaid.i.Azam Muslim league.
As far I see Quaid.i.Azam Muslim league is in better hands and they are most civilzed and sensible among all the political parties. They have proven themself as more principle oriented than Nawaz Muslim league as they call themself.
Imran Khan does not make any sense when he talk in support of corrupt iftikhar ch. He should show some wisdom by distancing it from foreign financed game plan.

Pakistan's drift into the hands of extremists
The intention of the attack on Sri Lanka's cricket
team was to send a clear message to Washington: Pakistan is ungovernable
·
·
o Tariq Ali
o guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 3 March GMT
o Article history
The appalling terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricketers in Pakistan had one aim: to demonstrate to Washington that the country is ungovernable. This is the first time that cricketers have been targeted in a land where the sport is akin to religion. It marks the death of international cricket in Pakistan for the indefinite future, but not just that, which is bad enough. The country's future is looking more and more precarious. We do not know which particular group carried out this attack, but its identity is hardly relevant. The fact is that it took place at a time when three interrelated events had angered a large bulk of the country and provided succour to extremist groups and their patrons.
The first is undoubtedly the foolish decision by Washington (backed by Britain) to send more troops to Afghanistan, which has now united all those resisting them in that country and the North-West Frontier province of Pakistan. Instead of searching for a viable exit strategy, Obama has gone for a surge. On several occasions, I have warned that escalating the war in Afghanistan could seriously destabilise Pakistan and its army.
Second, Senator Dianne Feinstein's revelation that the US drones being
used to target "militants" and "terrorist havens" inside Pakistan were, in fact, being despatched by the US from military and air-force bases inside Pakistan (obviously, with the approval of the Pakistani military and civilian leaders) created mayhem in the country. The shock and dismay should not be underestimated. Half-hearted government denials further fanned the flames. Since many in the country regard Zardari and his cronies running the country as US drones, the anger was multiplied.
Domestically, the country is a mess. The People's party has learnt and forgotten nothing. Corruption is rife and stories circulate linking the money being paid by bankers directly to the president's house. Add to this Zardari's refusal to honour an election pledge restoring an independent judiciary, and his decision to manipulate tame judges to disqualify his opponents has not gone down well. The controversy was aggravated by Zardari's move to dismiss the elected government in the country's most populous and strategically important province, the Punjab (capital: Lahore), and impose direct rule, after its chief minister apparently refused to accept a bribe in the shape of a lucrative business deal in return for abandoning the fight to restore the chief justice fired by the military leader over a year ago.
The failures of this government and its inability to defend the country's interests or its population from drones or terrorist attacks are paving the way for the return of the army to power as a way of avoiding a serious split within its own ranks. All that is awaited is a green light from the US embassy in Islamabad. Not that this would solve anything, but it might create the illusion of stability for a few months. It's no good Pakistani politicians mumbling that this is "our Mumbai". The fact is that, over the last year, the Zardari government has done a great deal for itself and its clients, but nothing for the people or the country. The more Pakistan drifts, the more opportunities offer themselves to the extremists.

Fundamentalism was spread purposely in the society to gain political benefits without thinking what will happen afterward with the sciety itself.

Military taking over does not mean martial law.
There had been civil martial law administrators in Pakistan's history.
Civilian rules have been more dictatorial as compare to military rules.
I remember from last perpetual civil rules of BB and Sharif that they replaced Cheif justices as they wished, they appointed army rules as suits them most and civil rights remained at lowest.
Here we must not confuse freedom with taking law into self hands.
People of Pakistan must understand that so called democracy of Pakistan never represent the majority. Elections in Pakistan are mostly engineered.

There is nothing wrong with madrassa students. It's the ELITES who have grabbed the entire resources of the nation and are spreading propaganda against the madressas to misguide and mislead the people to the wrong direction.

BRN replied on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 07:33 AM PST

Absolutely right @ Ali3. It's all our high class bullshit. It's not a common man who are wrong, it's Musharaf who just closed eye and support US in every mean. Look at Iran, they are also in neighbor of Afghanistan, same as Uzbekistan or others. they don't have such problems like we have, why????? Did we ever think why it's only Pakistan? Coz Americans kills millions of Afghans via flying from Pakistan, that's the reality and we have to face it now.

There is just one way to stop these incidents, say bye to USA..!!!! This is the only choice we have..... otherwise we will be like Afghanistan soon... Remember these words!!!! May Allah give Hidaya to our leaders..

All over the world hoarders are considered to be the worst people of society, worse than prostitutes. Only in Pakistan hoarders are VIP's, given special attention by government, Musharraf used to invite all hoarders and mafia's openly to Pakistan and say in his overseas speeches: "Nowhere win the world you will get so much profit as in Pakistan", and all at the expense of my awam whom i have kept at gunpoint so that they can keep polishing my floors with their nose.

Appeal to all Pakstani brothers

This new wave of attack in Lahore shows our enemies whos aim is to destablize Pakistan are becoming weeker every day and now had came out to do act. I appeal to all feloow brothers who visit these sites to kindly show the following;
1) Unity 2) Stop abusing each others 3) Support our Govt (good or bad) .4) support our Police and Army.
5) Give a message to our enemies that we will not accept the defeat.6)Find the enemies which are from our community .7) stop blame games.
Pakistan Zindabad and Zindabad.Defeat for our enemies.

Ali3 replied on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 02:56 AM PST

Ashraf, you are misleading the people. You are saying totally illogical things. Maybe you should appeal to our beloved Prophet (PBUH) that his sacrifice of Karballa was wasted, rhat Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) should have supported yazid (good or bad) and his army and his police.

Remember, Pakistan is not something out of Quran! This whole world, whole planet is created by God! Islam is not only inside the mosque. I think Islam starts the moment you step out of the mosque!

Concerned replied on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 03:19 AM PST

Ali3!

What is wrong with what Ashraf is appealing for? Please dont bring Mullah-ism into this discussion. All what we are suffering from today is caused by these uneducated maulvis/terrorists.

Think with your head and not ......

chacha replied on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 03:24 AM PST

@ Ali3

Ashraf is trying to say that "united we stand, divided we fall" & he is absolutely right. Its time, we stand together and i am sure that everyone has the same feeling.

Also agree with you Pakistan is not something out of Quran, I believe, forces who are trying to destablize Pakistan will suffer from its destability and if Pakistan's future is dark, so is our neighbors'.

May Allah forgive us and help us to act rightly and wisely.

Long Live Pakistan

Aamir replied on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 03:33 AM PST

I agree with you.

1. I would request the visitors of this site try to understand the fact that dynamics of Terrorists/Guerrilla attack are such that only a little or no defence is available to against these tactics prevent the occurrence, no matter how qualitative or quantitative force is applied to. Therefore, bashing the security forces of Pakistan is not appropriate in larger interest of the country, especially on websites

2. I agree with many of you that there were security lapses but then if there had not been any, even then it was nearly impossible to prevent the occurrence, hence leading to the same conclusion, security lapses.

3. Therefore try to do as advised by Mr.Ashraf, instead of abusing and bashing.

1) Unity ----- Ok this is required
2) 2) Stop abusing each others ----- No one is abusing each other but the government only
3) Support our Govt (good or bad) ----- I thought in deomcracy when someone goes wrong the people should correct him, also i can't support a proven hypocrite, u can its ur choice to have him. Also why should we support the government? did they support the students, other professionals, industrialists, farmers, or any poor? if they are not supporting us then why the hell we support them? infact we should kick this kabari's ass ASAP. & Rehman Malik should resign like indian defense minister did, but NOOO hypocrite is still on the seat.
4) support our Police and Army ----- yeah right, i guess u haven't seen how claimly those attackers left out of the scene while walking.. If they can't do what they are ment for then why the hell we support them? we all know how exactly those big names came into action (IG, SSP, etc) who don't provide training to the junior staff, yet let them die when these types of attacks happen
5) Give a message to our enemies that we will not accept the defeat.
----- don't worry when ever the moment comes all pakistani gets unitied against our enemies It is proven fact.
6)Find the enemies which are from our community . ---- yeah right, we all know where are our enemies (which is GOVERNMENT, Democracy, India, CIA, Masout, & their agents (BLA, TTP, MQM)etc)
7) stop blame game ---- 1st learn the difference between blame game & criticism, if u can't then stop behaving like this...

Waqar Latif replied on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 12:25 PM PST

how many time u actually went to some Madrass? Do u know what happens in a Madrass? or u are also blind like other foreigners, who just behave like Madrass = Training Camp for the terrorists. Yes i agree if the terrorists means the Scholars of Islam, then Madrass = Training Camps for the terrorists.

@Concerned

Stop behaving like an illiterate Muslim. When someone speaks about Islam u call it Mullah-ism, if u can't handle Islam, then just change ur religion... get it?

You are one stinky, uneducated mullah from bajour, I am sure. Go to hell!!!!!

Waqar Latif replied on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 06:34 PM PST

@Concern

so u proven my point about "illiterate", while i meant only "illiterate Muslim" at that time:P

I don't wage war with everyone, other then only those who speaks against Islam. or Muslims, & i will continue doing this.

Just for ur information, i am double masters, (M.Phil) more educated then ur whole family (foreign returned). Yet, good enough learned muslim. Not a "Illiterate Muslim" like u, who thinks Dawah is Mullah-ism. while Quran is pretty clear in this. So far i am not a mullah, but would love to stand infront & u pray behind me. & I get the reward of ur as well as everyone praying behind me. & u only get the reward of only ur prayer.

But why u care? Mr. Illiterate Muslim, for u the only thing which matters is, this world, ur foreign kaffir lords, & Media.

"If u get a chance to see the video when those attackers leaving the scene u will get surprised that they were not in hurry, doing everything claimly.."

This is called "Post-facta Analysis" of the situation; means its very easy to be intelligent after the event. I stand by my precept that there is no defence against a terrorist attack. No preemptive measure can prevent the act to take place, unless you know one or more of the "When", "Who", "How","Where". Can you or anybody provide info atleast one of the phrased word in the context of terrerist attack to prevent next occurrence in Pakistan?

The only way to prevent is to remove the underlying reasons of such an act.

Being a security person, i know we can't say that "we didn't know it could happen".. terrorists, robbers, thiefs don't alarm u before comming.. since this is our duty to analysis each situation, before anything can arise. We call it risk analysis, but these sifarishies only know just to put 3 cars (1 on the front, & 2 at the back) & close the roads then u are safe.

& also, i have said in many forums & saying here as well, that i can disintegrate RAW inside pakistan, as well suicide attacks. I just need 4 months in full power.

Look how many persons you bashed on this thread.
1) Concerned (i guess u found a person who abused u in ur childhood, that's why u r so much sure :P, No comments for u Looser)
2) @Chacha (i think u should be out of the religion. . Act like HeadMaster.
3)@yess (how many time u actually went to some Madrass? )
4)@Ashraf (which is GOVERNMENT, Democracy, India, CIA, Masout, & their agents (BLA, TTP, MQM)etc).
You are considering every single people is your enemy.

For sure you have some attitude problem. I would suggest you to take some behavioral change course and yes I would pay your tuition for this course.

Baby, i never asked for ur support so stop being behaving as over smart, Just learn some English, i said, I can do it, which means i am saying these Sifarishies don't know there Job Get it? or still need more explanation to this line?. & also my family & life is perfectly going fine, u don't need to worry about it. Now coming to bashing "Concerned". He initially attacked someone while saying something, if u can't go through whole thread then don't comment. Now coming to chacha, he is always being against Islam, so my comments were like that, & i never yeild on him, i only expressed my thought.

& yess, went against madrass without any reason, so i simply asked him "how many times u actually went to some madrass?" where is yelling or showing my anger?

I think u have some understanding problem, yes i went in aggressive mod only with Concerned, but i answered each & every his query. but he always went like not answering me, but only pointing... so in the end, i also went like that.. & why u are crying? u also behaved like pointing at me, do u also have some problem at ur home? or feeling complex?

So for u this is every single person. geat.. ur world only runs around these things...
