Aashiyana Housing Scheme Lahore
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that first housing scheme “Aashiyana” is a revolutionary project of Punjab government for low-income people in the history of the country. He said that under the leadership of Quaid PML-N Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, it is an important step towards transforming the country in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
He said that like other projects of the Punjab government, Aashiyana Housing Scheme will be completed in a most transparent manner and all houses will be allotted through balloting. He said that five per cent quota has been reserved for widows, orphans, disabled and martyrs in this scheme and Punjab government will make down payment for the houses of martyrs and widows.
He was addressing a foundation stone laying ceremony of first Aashiyana Housing Scheme at Atari Saroba, Ferozpur Road, here today. Chairman Punjab Land Development Company & Member Provincial Assembly Sheikh Alauddin, Members National and Provincial Assembly, senior government officials and a large number of people were present on this occasion.
Addressing the function, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that it is the first coordinated and comprehensive housing scheme in the history of the country which is being set up for the poor on a very costly land. He assured that like Daanish Schools which have been set up for the poorest of the poor students for providing quality education and their standard is not less than any prestigious institution of the country, the Aashiyana Housing Scheme will also be made a high quality housing scheme by providing most modern facilities in it so that the low-income people should also realize that not only elite, they have also equal right on most modern housing schemes.
He said that Punjab government by launching this housing scheme with best facilities has given its practical proof. He said that three thousand houses of 2 and 3 marla would be constructed in this scheme and every possible effort would be made to complete these houses within one year. He said that Punjab government has fixed quota for widows, martyrs, disabled and orphans in this welfare project and it will make down payment of Rs. 2.25 lakh for these houses allotted through draw to them. He said that the facility of loan at minimum interest rate from Bank of Punjab would be provided to the remaining 95 percent people obtaining houses through balloting. He said that after Lahore, a network of such schemes would be laid throughout the province and there will be no quota of Chief Minister or the Punjab government in these schemes. He said that construction of best houses for the poor is his commitment and Allah Almighty will reward him and his
team. He said that Allah Almighty has given an opportunity to Quaid PML-N Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Muslim League government to build houses for the poor and Insha-Allah, like provision of free medicines, dialysis, Punjab Educational Endowment Fund and Daanish Schools, we will continue such welfare projects.
Replying to the questions of media-men, the Chief Minister said that those people are criticizing the welfare projects for the poor who looted national resources ruthlessly, committed dacoity of billions of rupees in Bank of Punjab and plundered national exchequer in the name of development projects and Lahore-Kasur Road and Ring Road are clear proof of it. He said that political stability will come in the country through the service to the poor and accomplishment of the welfare projects for them and not through corruption, scams of billions of rupees and looting of Hujjaj.
Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Aashiyana Housing project and unveiled the plaque of the link road. The Chief Minister was informed that the cost of this scheme has been estimated to Rs. 3 billion and Central Park and play ground would be developed over 16 kanals while a mosque would be constructed over four kanals. During the briefing, it was informed that community center, medical center, school and commercial plazas would be constructed in this scheme.
