Gold Prices

Dear Valuable Contributors

Does anyone has any idea what has made the gold rates to soar-up to $ 973 per ounce. If anyone can share which factors impact the gold prices the most? What can be the positive/ negetive impact on other investments/assets?

:1)

Ali3 replied on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 05:39 PM PST

After collapse of Capitalism, the only system left for world to follow is the Islamic economic system. Communism, Socialism, Kingdom, Dictatorship, Democracy, everything has been tried and has failed. In the Islamic system only gold or a gold backed currency can be a medium of exchange for trade. According to research, there is almost zero inflation during the last 1400 years in relation to gold. Meaning if gold was the currency, as was during the Islamic Khilafat until around 1914 (or maybe 1924?), the price of a kg of ata, for example, would be same today. Some regions of Malaysia have already started using gold coins as currency. If this becomes a global trend, USA will cease to exist as a country.

In USA, people are paying upto 100% premium over international rates coins. The coin manufacturers in USA say there has never seen so much demand. 80% of world's gold is in control of free masons (The Illuminati). A major portion of that is with the Rothschild dynasty. The world's largest reserves are at Reko Dek in Baluchistan. They are still not being mined.

Pakistan was born on 27th Ramadan. That's not a coincidence. The British did not plan that date. They planned 14th August. But if Pakistanis do not fix their aamals (moral behavior), Allah (SWT) can take this blessing from Pakistanis and give it to some other nation. Allah does not need us to carry out His plan. I am talking about the blessing of being the next nation for the Islamic Khilafat, as Turks were before, and others before them. Allah's plan will happen anyway, if we do not become part of it, it does not mean it will not happen. Remember, aamals are very important but we don’t pay much attention to that. Hazart Ali (AS) said that society can live without deen but not without justice.

According to a Hadees, everything will become worthless (zero) except gold, people who do not have gold will find it difficult (or not be able to) buy items of daily use (like food?). Coming of the Anti-Christ (dajjal) is not far. Zarb-e-Momin newspaper prints he is already alive and living somewhere in the area of The Bermuda Triangle. It means single global Islamic government is not far too. We know beyond any doubt that it will happen. Whenever that happens, all currencies will cease to exist. Gold coins will become the currency.

Jweish books also mention these things. That’s why they are collecting gold and giving us USD in return. Taking our natural resources for free and giving us paper in return. But we can’t blame them for these things, as is our tendency, to blame even everything on them. It’s our own actions, our own leaders, our own behaviors. Nobody can force anyone. We do all these things ourselves. The big irony is that over the past sixty years all the USD (worthless paper) Arabs got in return for oil were invested in real wealth (buildings, factories etc.) in USA/Europe. Nobody forced them.

Let us all try to become the bird that was throwing a drop of water when Hazrat Ibraheem (AS) was put in fire. The bird said, I know I cannot put out this fire from this drop of water, but I want my name to be put on the list of who were putting out the fire. Nobody knows when we will die. We know beyond any doubt that the jihad of Jesus Christ Hazrat Issa (AS) is going to take place. There’s going to be jihad-e-Hind too. If we die before that, how will our name come on the list of people who took part in them? But if we start doing something now, then even if we die earlier, at least our name can come on the list.

Even the Jewish scriptures talk about these things. They know too. That’s why Israel is building a massive air base at the exact
location where Hazrat Isa (AS) will confront Dajjal.

Again I got carried away. Again someone will criticize me for bringing Islam into a non-Islamic question. However, I come back to answer the original question, that gold is going to be a lot more in demand in future.

MM replied on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 05:40 PM PST

Dear Sir
The paper money is loosing its worth. It is the indication of the collapse of Capitalism. The Riba based system is finally collapsing. People are now turning back to the old standards, Gold and Silver and shedding the paper (worthless) money.

@ Ali

At more than one occasion I tend to agree with your views on this forum, practical application & their implications may contflict.

I became aware of these facts in early 90's & over-exaggeratedly convinced within 3 years; the realities of life pushes us to the corner so that we can understand these concepts more practically. BUT the missing link is the transformation of current situation into the ultimate reality; although, some of the indicators do point out towards it, still bleak. Well, stepping ahead we need to study the history. Some of the scholars (also some of the writers) maintain that the present uncertain situation will gradually turn into a soft/swift revolution & then the great Muslim Khilafa will be everyone's choice. I don't belive it. The Wisdom (hikmat)of the Quran says that Allah Has Given everyone (every nation) chances till a stipulated time but then desaster became their destiny. Even turbulences are blessings in disguise.

Now, if we take a step back to the present situation again with the above retrospective view the intution tallies with the inference that the transition will be bitter & the resultant revelotion will be even cruel. Positive & negetive contributors to this will be accounted for accordingly.

Coming to the question of gold
prices, your arguments does support the price hike in a longer run but what I was enquiring the reasons of the current increase within days & I do agree with MM.

limo replied on Thursday, February 19, 2009 12:20 AM PST

Pardesi, i think technically speaking, since gold is no more a standard for currency printing now, so its very likely that we are printing excess money in comparison to the gold. It disturbs the essential proportion required (that we used to have before in times when gold used to be a standard) between gold and money in order to have a stable value of gold.

Fake Prices

Chacha , Some Realestate dealers, specialy from islamabad, are quoting very high fake prices to befool overseas on this forum. This trend is adversely effecting their business. Your comments/ advice :flg

You are 100% correct.During my recent stay in pakistan I got a plot in bt islamabad for 40 lacs where as the price of the same plot was quoted by a dealer on this forum as 65 lacs

Thanks in advance!!

F M Butt replied on Friday, February 20, 2009 02:45 PM PST

Dear Ahmed, there should be no much of difference in the on going rates because there is no buyers in the market. I am back in uk after my leave other wise i would have surely helped you. Plz ask your dear n near one in pakistan to look for an owner who is selling his plot( not a dealer plot), you will get it on my above mentioned rate. These dealers specially from Pindi/Islamabad are quoting very high
prices for their own plots to befool expats.

choice of profession

My nephew has recently got admission in Lahore University, at Raiwind road in pharmacy. It will be a 5 year course after which he will be given "Docctor of pharmacy" degree. Is this profession demanding in our country or in the gulf and are there enough jobs for such graduates. Please advise.

Ali3 replied on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 02:16 AM PST

Although I'm not an expert on this, but I think this is not a "in-demand" or a money making profession, at least in Pakistan. Even in Gulf, i don't think the salaries for this profession will be high. Ofcourse, destiny also plays a major role in money making.

Dr Usman replied on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 02:43 AM PST

AOA,I personally think in every field if a person works hard he can make a good future. Regarding pharmacy I personally think it is a good field and one can make handsome money provided that he obtains his degree from good institute and with good grades. i don't think university of lahore is a good institute for this purpose.
Other options could be BCS from fast, lums, giki, nust.

Nadeem replied on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 03:55 AM PST

I am a Pharmacist with M-Phil degree in Pharmacy from Zakariy Univ. Multan, Pakistan.
Since the start of 5-year Pharm-D degree in Pakistan replacing 4-year B-Pharmacy I think this profession's demand is increasing and I see in future the demand of Pharmacists will be high, not in Pakistan but abroad.
I got excellent oppurtunities to work in this profession right from the beginning. I was selected by PPSC(Grade-17) in Health Dept., govt. job with Govt. of Dubai, presently working with Govt. of Abu-Dhabi in one of the leading hospitals.
Besides I have been able to earn good money as well sicne I got good job oppurtunities but it depends how much one get oppurtunity in Pakistan or abroad.
One drawback with this profession or with all medical fields is that if one goes to USA or Canada or UK or Gulf one has to pass the registration exams which is different in every country which is quite frustating sometime.
To work is Pharmacy profession is not a joke. It is a serious business since any serious mistake can take patient life as well. So one must take this profession seriously should be knowledgable about medicines not like in Pakistan where unqualified people can work in private pharmacies of hospitals.
I would suggest for your nephew to decide himself if he likes this profession.
My suggestion is if he is committed for this profession then he should try to get admission in some reputed institution for Pharm-D and after getting Pharm-D degree he should do MBA in Health Care Management and then belive me he can go any where and get excellent jobs in leading hospitals of the world. I again emphasize to get MBA in Health Care Management after Pharm-D.
USA and Australia are very good for Pharmacist.

Ali3, i am also of the same impression that in Pakistan, this profession in not much demanding specially when compared to engineers, doctors, MBA, even IT graduates. It has got a very limited scope same like bio-medical engineers.
Nadeem, thanks for explaining in detail. But i am much interested in knowing its scope in Pakistan. We are people with limited resources and would definitely expect him to be an earning hand immediately after completing his degree through this profession.I feel that he would relly have to struggle to integrate himself in the Pakistan job market after completing the degree.

Nadeem replied on Thursday, February 19, 2009 03:08 AM PST

Dear Mr. HAli
my email is

Mr. hak
In pakistan this profession is good only if your nephew after doing Pharm.D plus MBA marketing joins some multinational pharmaceutical company for some marketing job only then he can earn much.
But if your nephew after getting pharm-D is able to go to USA then he can mint money like anything

AS replied on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 11:07 AM PST

Sorry to interupt...although I am not interested but the price quoted is too much. The rates in Askari 10 are sharply declining because there is no buyer and on the other hand hundreds of houses have been alloted to officers. Since civilians can not purchase due to not transferable status , therefore the rates may come down very sharply. It is expected that it may even touch around 50 Lacs or even less.
Some one to comment on this.
Thanks

I would appreciate sincere advice for the following two.

1)I invested in a shop in one of the DHAI Ph2 shopping plazas (Giga Mall). I am paying the installments regularly. The shop is worth 2400k. I just want to know if this investment is worth keeping and worth putting the money in or should I look into disposing this?

2)What is the best investment for 10-12 lakh in Islamabad if I want to keep it for lets say 5-10 years.

Many thanks.

Referring post 42048,,,

If such business association is setup, I would suggest a few things to make business process transparent and corruption-resistant.

=========================================================
Some notes before starting,,,
1) This post is lengthy and contains some concepts which are not conventional, thus may be a bit difficult for some. So if you want you may skip this post.

2) At some places a concept ‘checksum’ is suggested for tamper-resistance or verifiability. For readers with non-IT background,,,,

On business side: publishing checksum of an electronic document is similar to sealing a traditional document with holographic lamination. Anyone can read the document, but no one can tamper it. If anyone ever attempts to tamper the document, it will be known.

On technical side: checksum or ‘Hash’ is an IT concept where a small fixed length checksum (usually anywhere between 8 to 32 characters) is calculated from any length data. It is calculated in such a way that it is almost impossible to change/alter/tamper that data without changing it’s checksum.

There are many algorithms of calculating checksum, some are strong and some are weak. The association may use some well-known standard algorithm like MD-5 or SHA-X, which are also used by US government (including US Department of Defense). The association may provide a facility of calculating checksums, but besides that, any shareholder may also calculate checksum from software available by independent big entities (like Microsoft), and that should result in exact same checksum as association’s checksum facility. This would verify the association's checksum is standard, strong and not manipulated.
=========================================================

Now the suggestions,,,

• All accounting entries must be accessible to shareholders, preferably online.

• All entries must be verifiable in at least one way. Or in other words, there must be at least one existing or reachable evidence other than recorder's own discretion.

Wherever practical the entries should carry supporting evidence in electronic form (like scans, photographs, audio or video)

• Any shareholder or his/her nominee can visit site(s) to verify any entries/statements. Rules must facilitate such auditing visits rather than obstructing these. Preferably the association should publish a guide of things to check during such visit (but the shareholder can go beyond things described in auditing guide).

After that auditing visit the shareholder should be encouraged (but not required) to provide objective feedback by a pre-defined survey, and subjective feedback as text. Both of these feedbacks, no matter positive or negative, must be made available to other shareholders, preferably online.

• Details of recurring and current stakeholders should be maintained published,,, like of management, employees, and wherever appropriate suppliers and customers, so that shareholders can reach them to verify transactions and statements.

• At each smallest unit of closing period (say shift or day closing), a checksum of all entries of that period must also be published, so that no entry may be altered after that closing.

Shareholder having copy of published checksum means that if entries of that closing period are ever tampered, their checksum would no longer match with shareholders’ copy of checksum.

Checksums of bigger closing units (say week/month/quarter/year) may be calculated from checksums of smaller unit, and published. The bigger units checksums provide similar tamper-resistance guarantee, just at larger scale, thus give some convenience of not having to track and match many smaller unit checksums, instead only tracking and matching fewer bigger unit checksums.

If some unintentional mistake is discovered after checksum is published (i.e. after the record is sealed), that mistake should be explicitly adjusted in current on-going period. Wherever adjustments are made, those should be highlighted (like in red or bold) and a separate compiled list of adjustments should also be accessible to shareholders.

• There may be times when immediately exposing all details of some entries may not be in best interest of association,,, for example when buying/selling one-unit-of-a-series, where exposing nature/price of one unit may change market price unfavorably to association before the whole series is completed.

For such entries, some of their details may be temporarily masked, but still their checksum must be exposed immediately, along with a defined date of uncovering those masks. So that at their unmasking date the shareholders can calculate checksum by themselves and be certain the entry was not altered during masked period.

• Parallel to concept of balance sheet, practically record-able details of assets/liabilities should be maintained and accessible online. Each entry should consist of objective description of asset/liability and a subjective assessed value. The valuation assessments may be updated at discretion of management over time due to market fluctuations or depreciation. Such assessment updates history must be immediately published.

Any of management’s discretionary value assessment may be challenged within a certain duration, say 1 year, by any shareholder and that communication must be made available to all shareholders, preferably online.

• For reliable ownership register and transfers mechanism, details of owners and titles must be accessible online, except where owners choose privacy option.

If some owner/shareholder doesn’t want his/her details to be published, his/her personal details may be masked but the checksum should be published, so that the ownership is verifiable to himself/herself.

At time of entering ownership, the shareholder’s contact and identity must be recorded with optionally recorded video (which shouldn't be published) for enhanced identity verification at time of selling. After that shareholder should be provided a secure PIN and a currency-note associated with that title (with title number regarded same as serial number of currency-note).

Possession of this currency-note, provides guarantee of one and only ownership to that title, making anyone else’s claim on title without currency-note as doubtful. This would avoid corruption attempts in ownership or transfer.

At time of leaving ownership, the shareholder, besides identity verification with earlier record, the selling owner must also provide his/her PIN and the currency-note.

In cases someone looses either PIN or currency-note, the selling owner's (potentially fraudulent) identity is matched with record, after which he is asked to submit some security deposit (say 20% of asset's value) and his claim statement is recorded in his voice on high-resolution video. After that recording of claim a notice is sent at owners' contacts in file and same notice is published at shareholders common access area for sufficient duration (say at least one month). If no one disputes that claim the transfer is made and security deposit is returned. But if someone disputes his claim during this period, a criminal fraud case is registered with both claimants recorded video to find out which one attempted fraud, and then fraud attempting party's security deposit is forefeited and it is prosecuted with recorded video evidence to deter such attempts.

In any case, all title transfers must be immediately published for sufficient duration (say one year), preferably with details of involved parties if not private.

To discourage speculation in ownership, there should be a penalty (submitted in account of association) on shareholders leaving in less than a certain duration (say 6 months).

• For collective decision making, there should be an electronic voting mechanism. The shareholders may either vote directly or nominate their representatives for voting. If they want they can have multiple representatives each assigned with a percentage of their own voting weight. Voters can override or change their representatives whenever they want. Voting weights of representatives should be published, but detail of representatives' voters should be per voters' choice, who can choose to remain private or public.

Voting on anything may be pre-scheduled by constitution of association, or may be initiated by sufficient voting weight (say more than 5% of all).

For each voting, a sufficient duration notice of voting should be issued (say 14 days). Around half of that period should be reserved for discussion/debate on that issue.

After the debate half, and within limited time (say from 8th to 11th days) the representatives must publicly declare their vote, after which they can’t change their vote. Within rest of duration (say after 11th day), the voters may review and override their representative(s) to cast directly if they want, and they may cast privately if they want. For each private vote a checksum would be issued for verification against result-list.

After the duration is complete (say 14th day) the votes would be counted and result would be announced, with details to the level who voted what.

For those voters who chose to cast privately, their personal details in result-list would be masked instead their checksum showing up. That way private voters would be certain that their vote is counted and that no one else is assigned their checksum (otherwise the checksum would differ).

To make balloting further transparent, depending upon choice of voter and/or association, an unmasking date (say after X years) may be encouraged or required for private votes.

(I would be keen to know criticism, deficiencies, alternatives or additional suggestions)

Pardesi replied on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 09:53 PM PST

I am taking this thread as an initial brainstorming session, therefore I submit my ideas. Infact, I wrote the following at the mid of the last year ".... the present situation of Pakistan the first ever or is it the only incident happened in this world. A retrospective reflection on historic revolutions & an unbiased study of geographic facts give us an anlysis of the situation. IF NOT HEAVEN THIS WORLD WILL NOT BECOME HELL. The everyday changing economic & geographical dynamics are evident that status quo will not sustain proved by the history as well that situations do change always. But before reaching a conclusion or predicting anything of the future let us come to the most important point which I am sure the leftists will reject but that will give an insight to all who need to prosper here & in Hereafter. The geo-economic situation is the most opportunistic because of satuaration in the most western economies, overflooded capital of Arab world, high cost production in US & EU while on the contrary our region is fortunate enough of having natural resources, low cost of production & intelligent human capital; prosperity is knocking at your door-step!" Thus there is a huge demand of food items & we have got the natural resources required to exploit these.

1. In the given situation mechanised farming seems the best idea while others may be considered as suppoting businesses.

2. Another one is to develop a reasonable good housing society next to the same farm area as an excellent living place for the members on co-operative (no-profit no-loss) basis.

Mohammad Yousaf replied on Thursday, February 19, 2009 02:20 AM PST

Mechanized farming is very good and there is no doubt about it, as ever increasing population of Pakistan will at least need food for living.
In the irrigated part of Punjab and Sind, land lords are having good living but on the cost of manual labor and their typical cruel system of control over human resources. Using tractors, harvesters, crushers and other mechanized systems, fuel is a killing part and I know some of my friends who are selling their irrigated land and moving towards cities for better profits.
If we are talking about dairy products then there is also potential for earning but too many hectic factors in maintaining controls and hygiene. When you deal with living species to derive profits on industrial scale, you have to deal with difficult matters.
There should be some business which is based on a system where business elements are mainly machinery and business expertise!
I suggested mechanized brick factory because housing sector in our country has never been addressed properly for the last five decades and there is a huge demand of nice townships. Bricks and related material is basic requirement for those projects. In this business, we will be pioneers as most of our competitors are not operating on good business ethics.

Brother Naveed Yasin’s brain work is really impressive but I need someone who should make it simple enough to connect us with what is being perceived and explained by him.

Majeed Malik replied on Monday, February 23, 2009 07:53 PM PST

Discussion under this subject clealry indicates how overseas Pakistanis are desparate to do something for the country. Some excellent ideas have been shared by several and expert's stuff from Naveed Yaseen is wonderful.
To me, farming is the best idea but you have to be careful from Jagirdars and Waderas who will dislike this from some unknown group of people!! Very good resistance power will be required to overcome that.
Setting up a manufecturing unit of high tech product(s) can be an option, for example computers and related accessories to start with.

My main concern is the
team, an honest and hardworking team. How many will we be able to find like CMY in Pakistan! Money from overseas is always very attractive for most. Be careful

Good Luck

dha 8

no ballotting for DHA8
dear readers

there was a hot news that dha8 ballotting will be in end feb09,spread by some dealers(not CMY) and investor mafia.

after a lot of effort its known from dha lahore senior executive that dha has no plans for the ballotting of dha 8 in near future ,no ballotting in 2009,
rather dha is focusing on the development of phase 7 and acquring the land for dha8 and park view,
remember theres is a big number of people having PV files ,the previous management issued files in significant excess ,though they didnt have sufficient land ,and dha took that over.dha earned a lot of money by transferring these files but bow they are in problem to accomodate all the file holders whereas they dont have enough land for their own schem -dha8.
in the nutshell -2009 is the year 2 acquire the land for phase 8 and PV ,ballotting may be in the end of 2010,
B CAREFUL B4 U DECIDE TO BUY N BLOCK UR MONEY

Haidar Ali replied on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 12:27 AM PST

so this mean only 2 moths have passed in 2009 and the ballot is likely to occur at the end of 2010 so this is a total of 2 years waiting time.

Thank You replied on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 12:52 AM PST

Dear faithful, Please stop repeating same old post that has no backing of any facts. Just saying that senior executive told me this and that means nothing.
What if I told you senior execative told me there is going to be balloting next month, and I don't even mention my name and execative's name. Would I have any credability? Of course not. So please stop this non-sense.

Junaid replied on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 12:55 AM PST

People don't listen to Mr. faithful, by posting the old post again he has proven that he is really faithful but not to us general public but to his master who is telling him to spread the rumor so that he can purchase back what he has sold. Dont panic Inshallah ballot will be held soon.

Razzaq replied on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 12:32 PM PST

I myself have called
DHA Lahore when I was in Pakistan and spoke to their property exchange department and according to them ballot will be held in 2009.
I am not taking their words and this call was just for my personnel info. Now keeping in mind DHA will never give you date prior ballot as it is not public info for many reasons.
One day we all will know that there will be ballot and (hopefully) value of this phase will give very good return as of location of this phase.
we all know these kinds of rumors has come before for other phases for ballot and Mr. faithful is also doing same by passing info which has no base.
I think Mr. Faithful should not be worry too much by keep posting same message again and again....I don't know the intention

Regards,

Haidar Ali,
Though it is an irrelevant question here but I could not stop myself to ask it from you. Are you Haidar Ali who used to write on LRE in 2004-5 very regularly - the poineer contributer of this page?

Haidar Ali replied on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 01:19 PM PST

Hussain sahib unfortunately not, I started posting on this forum in 06. This is not my real name. I just like contributing and like giving my views.

CMY replied on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 02:34 PM PST

Ballot of DHA 8 was publicly announced in newspapers in Dec 2006. It naver happened. Why not till now and when it will be held can only be answered by
DHA Lahore.

All we could do is guess the ballot. And there is too much mis information in this case by big stake holders its not possible for me to guess it any more.

Thanks Haider Ali Sahib! Its alright brother. Keep up the good work.

Pardesi replied on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 03:37 PM PST

Dear faithful

If it has come from a reliable source, means DHA passes inside information....; not been able to understand if the later details are also from DHA or ur own views as these contradict DHA's interest.

I tend to disagree "focusing DHA 7...." as there is no way DHA 7 can benefit without developing Phases 6&8. I wonder if DHA is so emotionally associated to DHA 7 (probably because of its distance/ indirect approach; huge strip of plots near BRB) while it is discouraged to develop 6&8.

Plz give us ur
contact for further details as I requested earlier as well.
