Dear Mr. CMY,

Almost how much time frame DHA 9/10 will take to get balloted and further develop? Any idea. Can it take more then 8 years? And this 12 lac development charges are confirm or can vary according to the situation?

Regards
Nadeem

CMY replied on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 01:09 PM PST

According to
DHA Lahore they now have 90% land in their possession in phase 9-10. DHA could do a ballot when they have 80% land in hand. When they will do the ballot?. I dont think its possible before 2 years. I think DHA 9-10 is 5 to 7 years project. Current development charges are 9 lacs. They could go as high as 12 lacs for DHA 9-10 but I dont believe the could be higher than that because military men that get plots alloted to them ONLY pay development charges and don't pay any land cost. Since they only [pay development charges I don't believe the amount on dev charges will be too high for them.

Dear Mr President, its always nice to see your always smiling face.

Especially so when you, our President of Pakistan, specially grants 'Hilal-e-Quide-e-Azam' to the His Highness Richard Boucher, Assistant Secretary of State of US,,, that also in recognition of his and his employer government's untiring efforts in strengthening Pakistan.

One cannot but admire your judgement that His Highness deserved it more than any Pakistani, including those who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan.

In fact if this picture is seen alone without context, it may be interesting to judge who is granting honor and who is feeling honored.

You look happy,, and,,, what we call this expression? Is this instinctive or you got some training in TCS service? Perhaps you should be managing director of the said service.

Nice to see you and His Highness happy. I wish I could also see the expressions of Quide's picture covered by your glowing face.

One should not be so emotional.
Pakistan is being isolated in the world comunity.

Hamid, Toronto replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 01:17 PM PST

For time being, let’s forget his smiling face. I have some burning or hot questions to ask on this forum. India is crying nonstop and there must be something fishy from Pakistan’s side. Let’s not follow the denial policy.
1)If there are substantial evidences about Pakistan’s involvement in Bombay Massacre then how should we tackle this issue?
2)Should we punish Lakawani or Lasher-i-Tabia?
3)If we cannot act properly then the whole world will be against us. India is aggressively campaigning with China and US against Pakistan. Our friends are getting irritate from us. Even though Mr. Nawaz said that denial policy is wrong.
4)There is no doubt that some local Indian elements were also involved in this episode. That’s why India does not want a mutual investigation.
5)India bluntly admitted that their intelligence is totally failure on Bombay Massacre.

Note: Please do not involve religion here. Also we are in year 2009 not in 1995. I am hoping that I am NOT opening a cane of worm here

In Pakistan we don't use alias 'Kasab' instead we use 'Qasai'
If the guy was Pakistani than he should be known localy as Ajmal Qasai!
Mean time we also know that indians treat animals as god therefore they hate the Kasai profession, thus by labeling some one Kasai, they manage to stimulate hindus hate agaist Muslims who eat meat!

While talking to some friends about Mumbai incidents, I have often felt a deep seated concept in some minds that since they were suicidal terrorists so they must be muslims.

Anyone having even a shade of such impression, please do know that suicide missions trend actually started three decades ago in South India at an Indian army's trained organization, Tamil Tigers.

And in 2002 Mumbai's Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray made no secret of his desires saying on record that “If such suicide squads are formed only then can we take on perpetrators of mindless violence” (
ref, ref)

And just within one month of that statement, at least two former Indian army officers, Lt Gen. P.N. Hoon and Colonel Jayant Chitale, seperately responded that call and made no secret that they are training suicide squads in Maharashtra (Mumbai's province)

Naveed what you are trying to say is that Pakistan is innocent in this incident, agreed we all know. But the point is whom we gonna prove this and whether proving our innocence to india or the world is going to makle any difference or not.I believe that india is escalating pressure on us as a part of a well planned hidden conspiracy, and they will keep on going like this no matter what we say or do. India is only gaining some time before he procedes with his already planned programme of pecision strikes on the so called terrorists hide outs in Pakistan. And what to tell the world that we are innocent, just look at your own home first. How panicked our government looked after the incident and how they put themselves in suspicions by giving statements, then backing out, look at sharif's role, he did'nt let the slimmest chance go by to let more international pressure mount on present government by saying that if ajmal was not a pakistani citizen, then why fareed kot was surrounded. Its enough to gauge their sincerity with this homeland.

Boucher showed his thanks by accusing palestinians and justifying state terrorism of israel

Abrar replied on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 12:52 PM PST

Drone violations and missile attacks will increase for sure now. Boucher has openly said same day that drone attacks will not stop, ignoring all the protests made so far by our leaders and we gave him medal for this,.....shame, shame. This act has made Pakistan more vulnerable. This will definitely send a wrong signal to India.

Boucher said three things.
1. There will not be any war between India and Pakistan.
2. Offered help in resolving Kashmir issue.
3. Drone attacks will not stop.

This is the same carrot and stick approach, which U.S. has always employed for Pakistan. The first two come under the category of carrot whereas the third one under stick.

Each drone violation on the western boarder further weakens this government. India is eager to do the same thing on eastern boarder and bring Pakistan down to its knees. Do we really need Mr. Boucher's help on first two issues? Will he be able to stop a war between India and Pakistan? Will he be able to resolve the Kashmir issue?
The U.S. ambassador should have been summoned instead in protest of Mr. Boucher's remarks.

GCC expats to face tax soon

GCC Set To Impose Income Tax Soon - The Gulf States have agreed to implement corporate and individual
income tax by 2012, and are now planning to bring the deadline closer, reports Emirates Business. "The prospect of drastic reductions in oil revenues and the resultant fiscal deficits has forced the six countries to examine whether implementation can be done earlier than 2012."

Jameel replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 05:18 AM PST

Yes that is obvious but I am cncerened about another thing, if this this recession prolonged and oil
prices remained low, then GCC countries can impose bar to only limited amount of money can be sent to home countries like 40 or 50%, Similar rule is there in Libya for long time.

i sold my plots in june2007,bought the britsh pounds from the open market and deposited in my FCmcb account, they have a rule if u deposit the money today u can not transfer it for another 9 days,so after 9days i just filled the form with the cheque and details of my uk bank, the money was transferd the very next day via chaps, the mcb deducted 9gbp, and my uk bank charged me another 12gbp,had no problem,so far i have done it four time, the only thing is u must have a proop where the money come from ,if u need more information i am willing to provide.

CS replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 12:55 AM PST

Thank you S.A Malik for your information for instance I do not hold an account in Pakistan and if I wanted to sell property could I use a Family members account to transfer the money over into my account in the UK.

Could you also specify what the full name of FCmcb bank
Also what sort of proof do they require is the proof used in the pakistan bank enquiry or in the UK.
Why did you have to fill out a check and provide your bank details.
Would I be able to transfer the ammount into a family members account in the UK.
Would a building society use the same format of accepting the money in the UK.
I would be grateful for information you could provide.

Ad replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 01:27 AM PST

Dear CS,

If you are in UK, simply go to www.citibank.co.uk and open up an account. Its free and you dont need minimum deposit for that

If you live near London, then simply pop into their branch with proof of ID and they will open an account for you.

Then from Pakistan, simply deposit £ into your account. They wont charge you anything.

This is simple & secure way

KM replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 04:56 AM PST

Thanks for your kind response. One more question.

How about tax implications on this transfer in USA? How much income tax will be due on this money?

Jameel replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 05:36 AM PST

CSA Malik I need bit more information about your post, To tranfer the money is easy but you did not answer about Tax implications, Can you tell how much amount you are talking of, If the amount is less than 5000 US Dollar they Dont ask you but if the amount is bigger you have to disclose the source and pay the Tax accordingly.
I have no direct information but I can tell some indirect information 3 examples
I Bought a plot from my brother in law who is in US, He requested me not to tranfer money in his Bank account rater he is doing arrangement of carrying cash bit by bit from Pakistan as money is not too much so possibly he is planning to spend in cash there.
One of my friend owns a huge Inherited property in Lahore he was living in US, Now he is UAE and selling his property bit by bit as he told me that if he transfer money to US and disclose that the source is inherited poperty then he will lose 30%, so why not enjoy in UAE
A Pakistani UK citizen was working with us for three years in UAE, He resinged now and transferred all his savings in offshore bank as otherwise he will have to file income Tax for the earnings in UAE.
I hope someone from US and Canada can give exact answer, [I am talking big sum of mney like 100000+ Dollars]

abj replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 12:31 PM PST

Depends on the status in the US, whether a Citizen, permanent resident or a foreign national working in the US.

If you are a US citizen or a permenent resident (green card holder), and you lived in the US during the year, then you file a resident tax return, and must include all types of income, whetehr it was earned in the US or elsewhere. That includes all interest, profit from the sale of a any asset etc. If you sold your primary residence in the US, after you lived in it for 3 years, then you are exempt for upto 250,000 individual or 500,000 for married filing joint return prfit or apprecation of that house. This rule does not apply towards an investment property and only for primary residence.

If you work in the US on an H-1 or similar work visa for atleast one year, then you have an option to either file a resident or non-resident tax return. The resident tax return has a lot of tax credits, and many foreign nationals elect to file a resident tax return, as its to their tax advantage.

If you are a foreign national, and are eligible to file a non-resident tax return, then it may be to your advantage to file a non-resident tax return in your situation, taht is, if you qualify. The tax system in US is very complicated, and everything cannot be covered in a single post, as there are several complicated rules.

Similarly, a US citizen or national is exempt for all active income he/she derives from foreign sources upto 75 0r 80K that he/she earns from non us sources while living in a foreign country.

The best option is to talk to a CPA (certified public accountant in US-similar to a CA or chartered accountant in pakistan) in your area, and discuiss your individual situation for best tax advice.

Safa Shahid replied on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 06:57 AM PST

This is very good news indeed. There is a big potential in Dairy field in rural or remote areas. This is a right path to eradicate the poverty. The project will be successful ONLY if private and govt parties work together. Govt alone cannot achieve all the objectives We need very very aggressive approach on this field so common people can take an advance from this progress.

Need your advice (DHA or Bahria Town Rawalpindi)

AOA firiends,

I have a budget of around 20 lac and need to purchase a one kanal plot. In understand that Bahria Town phase 8 plot may fall witin that budget. I need a place to build immediately. Not sure if any place/sector in DHA has similar price range. What would be better DHA or BT and why?

Thanks for your advice in advance

Khayyam replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 08:17 AM PST

BT Phase 8 is currently giving possession in some sectors. Why do you say BT will never give possession?

Mian Nadeem Islamabad replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 03:49 PM PST

AOA,
If u can compromise on size u may purhase a 40*80 Plot in CDA approved Scheme i.e CBR Town(Near Phase 6 Bahria Town) or Jinnah Garden Zone 5 Islamabad on Islamabad Highway.)
U can construct immediately much better
location then Bahria Phase 8.
Development standard is bit low then Bahria and Defence.Bahria Town 8 is isolated and going Islamabad from there take 90 minutes by using own convaynce.U may prefer property access able from both Islamabad & Rawalpindi. Bahria Phase 1 to 6 are good in Phase 3 u may got 250 Yards plot 22 to 28.

Khayyam replied on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 10:14 PM PST

Mian Nadeem, Excellent suggestions - much appreciated. I will look into all options that you have mentioned.
