Pakistan should do more
Pakistan needs to do more......, a lot more.
Pakistani elites cannot think beyond dollar. Uncertainty provides opportunity for this elite mafia to stay in power and fetch more and more dollars. Every national emergency is an opportunity for them to draw more dollars from outside and then portray it as a success of their foreign policy. This mafia has no religion and country. They have more assets outside the country.
An unstable Pakistan cannot win war against terrorism. U.S. policy makers know this fact yet they take steps which make Pakistan unstable. If they spend one dollar to make it stable, they also spend two to make it unstable. Why? A stable Pakistan is not in the long term interest of India-Israel-U.S. nexus. A stable nuclear Pakistan will seek Kashmir and Palestine resolution. It will install pro Pakistan government in Afghanistan. It will increase its influence in the Islamic world, particularly Middle East. Naturally, all countries follow their national strategic interests, not like us, proving friendship is more important for us. Our friendships are always higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans.
A nuclear India is in the strategic interest of U.S. whereas a nuclear Pakistan not. U.S. policy makers know that insurgency gives opportunity for the U.S. to offer its dollar. They also know that every dollar brings U.S. influence which creates anti U.S. sentiments and fuels insurgency. A prolonged insurgency in northern areas will make Pakistan weak, it may spread to other parts of the country if army is not able to suppress it. Its spread will provide an opportunity for the U.S. to penetrate itself deeper and deeper in our internal affairs and eventually take control of nuclear assets. India is eager for this to happen and repeat 1971 East Pakistan.
Yes, Pakistan needs to do more.
1. Its policy makers should learn to say no to U.S. dollar and it should get rid of dollar hungry elites from its cadres.
2. It should make the departure of U.S. and Nato forces from Afghanistan its foreign policy baseline as it has become the top most reason of instability in Pakistan. It should work with other regional and Islamic countries to replace it with the troops of Muslim countries like Turkey and Indonesia to do the policing work until Afghan national security forces are able to do this.
3. It should make it clear to Afghan government and U.S. commanders there that any
drone violating its airspace from Afghanistan will be shot down and will be followed by a retaliatory strike.
4. It should start a nationwide campaign to disarm the population. A democracy cannot work without functioning institutions and institutions cannot function if population is armed with klashinkovs and rocket launchers.
5. It should establish the writ of the government in every corner of the country and it should ensure that no foreign or local elements find its soil as a safe haven to plan another 9/11 type attack.
6. It should have one constitution for the entire country as per the wishes of people, be it Islamic or secular. The most important thing is that it should ensure safety of life and property for every citizen. Justice should easily be available to all the citizens and all should have equal growth opportunities.
Pakistan is a multi ethnic and multi religious society and forceful implementation of any constitution will be a recipe of a disaster and an open invitation to anti Pakistani elements to establish its roots in the country.
Pakistan is a country but we have to pass many tests to prove ourselves as a nation. A country can be made in one day but a nation has to go thru rigors of time like internal strife, wars, revolutions etc., to establish its identity as a nation. We have seen only sixty years and so far one failure in 1971. Sixty year is not a long period in a nation's history. It may take hundreds to reach maturity. We should be strong and resilient while facing these challenges and this should be our legacy for the next generation. Our legacy should be of hardworking, law abiding and honorable citizens and not of lazy, thugs and beggars.
