Hello,

Yes I wonder which Janat Pakistan Army will get, while using Talwars borrowed from America against its own muslim population ?

Allah(swt) will punish and bring those to the worst part of hell who kills muslims for demanding sharia in the muslim land.

Thank you and kind regards,
Gabriela

Pak army's image has been badly tarnished after their brutal barbarous savage action at Lal Masjid, in which they killed their own people just for the sake of an adventure. It's an unpardonable crime and will remain as a stigma on their faces.

burning schools, beheading people, suicide bombings....
1500 years of islamic history...please state one example from quran, life of prophet, sahaba or for past 1500 years where such things have been allowed by muslims.....

most of weapons used including aircraft are not built in america...more than 50% are indigenous.... only helis are american which they r reluctant to upgrade.....
have good day....

aa replied on Monday, November 10, 2008 03:04 AM PST

people who think taliban represent islam, dont even probably know the meaning of islam.. prophet (saw) forgave the women, without any condition, who desicrated the body of his uncle and ate his liver... and u think i have come from planet pluto.....
as for why they r burning schools in their own country? this is exactly what i am asking...may i ask another question that probably gives you insight about answere to first question.. how come bait ullah masood and moulvi umar are paying their stooges wages in dollars for past 4 years?? at time when country is starving for foreign reserves....and you think i m blind....may b you get pay in dollars as well...

abj replied on Monday, November 10, 2008 04:29 PM PST

Friends, Its a nightmare for all Pakistanis (with a few exceptions) to imagine that the taliban style rule would actually come to the settled areas of Pakistan, and Pakistan supports its uniformed personnel and praise their sacrifices. Unfortunately, there are some foreign powers that want to see Pakistan destablised, and they have a critical role in this. Pakistan is fighting its own war against the rogue elements, and without any question, the rest of the world has an interest in it, for Pakistan to succeed.

Once these radicals are wiped out, there is a need for education and employment in these areas. Due to poverty, they fall prey to these evil people and are exploited in the name of relegion, as they dont know any better. Actually, Pakistan needs to do away with FATA, the tribal areas and tribal culture in this day & age and bring progress to it. The world has progressed from this stuff a long time ago.

Samir replied on Monday, November 10, 2008 08:41 PM PST

Dear aa,
American Army Generals meet Pakistan Army Generals regularly to get feedback on how the progress is going for killing Pakistanies in the northern areas. Give me one example where prophet Mohammed (SAW)conspired with Yahudiis and Christians to kill Muslims.

aa replied on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 05:04 AM PST

do u think taliban should b called muslims?

abj replied on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 11:26 AM PST

Its about time that Pakistani authorities take action against the anti state elements working within the settled areas of Pakistan, after the state enemies are dealt with in the tribal areas. Most of them are comouflaged in the religious blanket.

Its obvious they are funded by foreign elements to weaken the state, as they use all tactics including propaganda against state functionaries on all levels and are not just limited to recruiting and training the rogue elements in their organizations.

I seek urgent advise please.
My friend's brother has died in USA. There is no other family member there. What happens to the house of the deceased in such cases? Is it at risk of being vandalized? My friend is the beneficiary of his brother's will, including insurance. He is going to USA to receive the remains of the deceased to bring to Pakistan, sell the assets, receive the insurance money, etc. But in the meantime he is worried about the belongings of his brother since there is no one to look after them. Can someone please recommend the appropriate safety procedure to follow? Is there any department that can be contacted? Thanks, Faisal Naseer. .

MQ replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 01:47 AM PST

Where is he located? If it is in a decent
location, there should not be any problem.

I would recommend, go to islamic finder website and find a close by islamic center. Get the phone number and call them and tell them about the situation. They should be able to help you out.

Hi
I am sorry to hear about your brother i am in Boston if you can tell me where in states may be i can help you finding some information and laws and his property if you like please write me at my email thanks and sorry again Babar.

sk replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 08:50 AM PST

There are laws in US. If he is married, all goes to his wife (different state to state). Otherwise it goes to state unless he has ratified will. same is true with any insurance, if his name is in beneficiary he would get it otherwise goes to state. If house in decent area, nothing would happen to house. If deceased is US citizen talk to State dept.

Faisal replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 01:25 PM PST

Deceased is a Canadian citizen but was living and working in USA for last two years. He has no wife or children. He named his brother in Pakistan as beneficiary. I asked the company the deceased worked for to send me a letter on a letterhead mentioning particulars such as since when he worked for the company, his social security, address and that he has died, etc. I told them it will be useful to present such a letter to the US Embassy. However, the company refuses to send this letter and says that the next of kin, the brother of the deceased, should send his mailing address first because they have to send the insurance documents. When i told them that the brother will be in USA in less than two weeks, and the documents by mail can arrive after two weeks, so please send the documents by email, but they still insist on the mailing address. Then i told again to send the letter about death of their employee on company letterhead, they still say first i should give them the mailing address then they will give the letter. I don't understand what's the connection of a simple letter with the insurance documents and mailing address? Is there some law that can make the insurance void or something like that if the beneficiary's mailing address is outside the United States?

Faisal replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 01:48 PM PST

The deceased was living and working in Houston. Can you please forward me some numbers of some reliable Islamic Centers and the
contact person in Houston? The brother of deceased has decided to bring the remains back to Pakistan. I have heard that Southwestern Airlines does not charge for this service, is this true?

torontonian replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 02:36 PM PST

I stongly urge you not to deal with the insurance company yourself, instead get a lawyer to do this, it will save you time and money. If not insurance companies will give you so much hassle. Dont Worry about vandalism, its not pakistan. To find a lawyer in the area, just go to google.com and type lawyer in houston, and you will find the list of lawyers. There are many urdu speaking lawyers as well. You can also request on this forum if someone knows a good lawyer. Most of the lawyers in this type of cases, only charge once beneficiary is paid.

2 pronged approach

Contact ICNA (www.icna.org) or ISNA (www.ISNA.net) or CAIR (WWW.cair.com) and ask them for help

Contact islamic center near that house and ask them to take care of that. Keep in mind there are some islamic organizations just on paper, they might be listed on islamic finder but if there is an active masjid or islamic center that is good

Contact local police station and inform them of the situation. Tell them that you have authorized the imam of the local islamic center or icna or isna or cair to deal with the situation

Sid replied on Monday, November 10, 2008 03:36 PM PST

Dear Faisal,
Sorry to hear about your brother. My mom died in NY two years ago and I know the whole procedure, so I write in here so you have background.
There are four things that you need to deal with
1: Decision to bring or not bring the body to PK (There are serious issues to consider here so do not downplay this,
2: How to get the body and get it shipped or how to get it burried
3: Insurance and stuff collection
4: Wages etc collection, 401K (retirement) etc. and dealing with the company of deceased.

4: Let me start with dealing with company of deceased: They are not authorized to give any information etc to any one but legal heir of the deceased. HR laws will also have prohibition in this regard. You should give them the address and ask them to send the documents through fedex or DHL. The mail should be in PK in maximum 48 hours. And Fedex is not really expensive (relatively speaking). keep in mind that you just need them to get your brother to US otherwise whatever money they owe, or insurance etc, you will get that eventually, so don't bother much. Try to have some one there ASAP.

3: Insurance is where you will get some money. And disposing off what he has will just have some urgency since if your brother was on rent, the land lord can confiscate things in lieu of rent and charge the estate (remaining money of your brother) for removal etc. So getting ther quick is good but not that big of a deal. Just one additional note, There is usually a one month or two months advance that you will also be able to collect from the land lord if he was on rent, if he owned the property then you will have some other work to do.
2: Only authorized heirs can collect the body. So you will need to send an authorization to a person to collect the body. Edhi centres are very active. You need to
contact Bilquis Edhi's centre in Houstan area and see if they can help you out. In NY they have a complete network and funeral homes that can help you out.

1: To bring remains of a person to PK, you will need to have a procedure called embombing done on the body of the deceased. Embombing involves taking out all the stuff from the stomach and filling it with some kind of liquid so that the body does not deteriate, etc. After embombing, the coffin will be sealed and people can view the deceased only through a mirror in the coofin (you woudl have seen that secene in American movies/funerals). Now, I have spoken to few musilim fate scholors and they agree that the deceased should be burried asap and near the place of death.
For your reference a hadees is stated below (I have narrated below to best of my recollection, check with a scholor to get accurate haddees) After a ghazwa, Hazoor started to give lectures to few deads. Some asked why and he(PBUH) said that they (the deceased) can hear better than you.

It means that dead will be penalized with Embombing process and some consider this un islamic. So Many leave their loved ones burried in USA/Canada because of this. Please consult with your faith scholor and get info.
the only way out of embombing will be to have the dead body burried for around six months as amanat and then close coffined body is brought to PK. This will be expensive but doable option since after six months all the stomach body parts would not exist. I have not done this but this is what my understanding is. You need to also check if they have not performed embombing already to preserve the body till some one can take control.

Good Luck, please post here if you have any question.

Regards,
Sid

Dear Arsalan Sahab
AoA
Since 2007,
DHA Lahore Phase 7 prices have bore the systematic Pakistani real estate market risk (beta of 1). I am not sure if you would have done better then phase 7 DHA investment, if you had invested in any other 7 -10 year real estate investment in Pakistan in 2007. However, there are always investors who have information/market access advantage over typical passive investors.

Mazhar replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 01:13 AM PST

Despite losses and extremely bad market DHA phase 8 Parkview 10 marla
files have gained nearly 20% in last six months. Parkview kanal files have not lost. All other DHA plots, files and almost all other societies are down considerably.

arsalan replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 01:37 AM PST

alpha may be my words were a bit harsh but I am extreamly stunned to see the price range from 28 to 50 lac. That was the level exactly 2 years from now and as far as investing is concerned, ALLAH TALA Ka bohat shukar hai that my investment from then has doubled in value. I was looking to invest 7.2 million rupees and where I invested has doubled in this time period and has not gone down in todays market.

alpha replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 01:57 AM PST

Dear Mazhar Sahab,
AOA
DHA Parkview pre-balloted
files are a different class of investment then from Phase 7 post-balloted plots, from time-to-maturity and risk (risk that was there in 2007) point of view. There returns have been higher. Arsalan Sahab, congragulations!

arsalan replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 03:30 AM PST

Thank you alpha sahib

Jameel replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 03:54 AM PST

It is almost lowest level of DHA 7 Plots in last many year, same rate came abut 2 ys Back when Market was lowest and phase 8 File was sold as low as 28,29. Phase 7 at this time is surest and much undervalued product,
I dont know where arsalan Doubled his money in last 2 years. If it is Park view File there is reason of DHA take over, which at that time was a bet only. Parkview
files can lose the price if One of the following things happen
If they are not Balloteed for Long time
Their location is acroess the Barki road near BRB,
Or their Developmet Charges are too much, Take the Example of DHA 7 in which File was 35 lac 3 Months before Ballot, And Now you are getting sure locatin average plot, with development underway in 24+9 lac Like, Like 11,12 Lac saving in 2 years. DHA 7 Location was not unexpected, same thing can happen in Parkview File as well.

Hello everyone there, I noticed lot of talk about naval anchorage here and there, for guidance of every one, plz note that naval anchorage scheme has already merged with dha islamabad in september 2008 and it is now under the umbrella of dha. It is state of the art society fully secure nicely developed by NESPAK with huge parks and other facilities. sooner you all will notice that the
prices will go enormously high. This is the best time to buy for investment purposes and also for living. Those having doubt can visit and they will be fully satisfied. My advise would be to stop wasting your time here and there and invest in this scheme. The prices at this time are half the rates of dha. Particularly, go for anchorage extension scheme which is under development and prices are really low in the range from 25 to 30 lacs. You should note that the all investment avenues are almost closed like Karachi Stock exchange, money market, dubai markets etc. Therefore it is forseen that a huge investment is about to come to real state sector specially in dha and sourrounding societies.Hurry up and make the best deal. Further, all the private housing schemes have one way or the other some problems so go for dha or naval schemes in the vicinity of dha-good luck

following are yours replies,

A. Before 28th Nov: all drafts should be dispatched or should be deposit in any branch of Askari bank.

B. Rs 27500 must be given with first instalment ( though it is mentioned in one news paper that you can give the membership fees in 2 instalments). So it is up to you, which you would prefare.

C.I am sending you the membership form on your mailing address, it needs 2 witness of DHA member, but i have confirmed that if you don,t have 2 witness, please leave it blank.

Other friends can also download the membership form through the following procedures,

D.If you are not interested to sale your file, no need to pay 1500 for 5 marla plot file opening fees & 3000 for 8 marla file opening fess.

E. Still nobody knows the other hidden charges, as they did not told us for membership feesearlier.

Dear Salman,

Thank you for your post.

I wish it's true. And I pray to Allah to grant Mr. Zardari good returns of his wonderful act. No doubt, it's an EXAMPLE, but ONLY, if it's TRUE.

I also wish and hope that in the same way, Mr. Zardari will set an example by taking back all his wealth to Pakistan (which was taken from Pakistan and then sent to foreign banks and invested in different ventures outside Pakistan. 1.8 Billion US $ is not a small amount)

I also wish and hope that Mr. Zardari would write a book "From One Cinema to Fortunes in 20 Years". All of us want to progress and grow and develop like him. He should tell us how, when and where he put hard work and succeed in converting his one Cinema of Karachi into 1.8 Billion US $ worth of wealth in just 20 years.

One thing I am very sure about, after reading this news. Mr. Zia Shahid is a good friend of Mr. Zardari.

So the Prez claims that all expenses for this trip were paid by Mr. Zardari. Can I just inquire where he got all this money from, and whether he has paid tax on this money, supposedly his income from some sort of business venture or something?

I can bet my annual taxes are more than his. Wonder if a new item will appear in newspaper highlighting how much tax he has been paying over the last couple of years.

if Mr. Zardari bring all his wealth, what surity that people will support him from being hanged by our Military Generals who are most powerful and wealthy. No one know when our Military General will put him in jail and hanged him as we experienced in past.
and if he bring his wealth what happened, can Pakistan debt will finish and pakistan will become rich and all the poor people will become rich.
Just talking and I know these expatriate or overseas, they are all keeping all the money abroad and making noise. just Chore Machai Shore. Abroad also who are low income people sending money to pakistan.

All I need from my President is to deliver.
I may approve for him twice the salary he gets now.
I also expect him to face critisim with open mind because he offered himself for the job.
Now can some one explain me what is this new law and who approves it?

Wide swinging of World Currencies

There is wide swinging of World currencies, would some experts shed light on that I guess
Oil is less than 1/2 in only few months,
American deficit is 10%. One of the highest in at least 20 ys
Inspite of this all All major currencies has been falling falling against Dollar, Australia's [which I guess had Zero Deficit in recent years] Currency is about 30% Low vs Dollar, I feel there is big gambling mafia Like a "Back hole", Which is getting benefit of peple emotions after American Election and in within 3,4 months they will put Dollar upside Down.

Pardesi, Jeddah replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 06:54 PM PST

Increase in US$ because of less global disposable income forcing to maintain both ends meet while bulk of international trade is on US$ thus US$ is in demand.

A plus point: US is the largest market of Chinese items, on the contarary US has alot of investment in China. On the current account China is gaining from higher US$ on its exports while US investment is earning higher yields -balancing its deficit from imports.

Still, the analysts insist that the drift in global confidence, especially banks are not accepting LCs of certain other banks, general recession, ever increasing loans, war charges, high costs of production and cheaper imports will force US$ to come down, gambling factor aside.

Ayat ul Qran for Riba

Following are all Ayatul Quran which explain the Riba these Clearly denotes that this encircles the personal dealing, that is why God stressess Charities instead of Riba
"God condemns riba, and blesses charities" Mentioning these things together clearly proves that Riba has no connection with Corportae interest. There is no form that charity can be given to a company who seeks loan to expand the business neither Charity can be given to state bank who want to Decrease the Inflation. Riba clealy means that it is person to person delaing where one is short of Fund and other gives money and then he want more money in return.

Below are all Ayayt For Riba in Quran
May God give us guidence

“ God condemns riba, and blesses charities. God dislikes every disbeliever, guilty. Lo! those who believe and do good works and establish worship and pay the poor-due, their reward is with their Lord and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. O you who believe, you shall observe God and refrain from all kinds of riba, if you are believers. If you do not, then expect a war from God and His messenger. But if you repent, you may keep your capitals, without inflicting injustice, or incurring injustice. If the debtor is unable to pay, wait for a better time. If you give up the loan as a charity, it would be better for you, if you only knew. (Qur'an 2:276-280) ”
“ O you who believe, you shall not take riba, compounded over and over. Observe God, that you may succeed. (Qur'an 3:130) ”
“ And for practicing riba, which was forbidden, and for consuming the people's money illicitly. We have prepared for the disbelievers among them painful retribution. (Qur'an 4:161) ”
“ The riba that is practiced to increase some people's wealth, does not gain anything at God. But if people give to charity, seeking God's pleasure, these are the ones who receive their reward many fold. (Qur'an 30:39)
“ That they took riba, though they were forbidden and that they devoured men’s substance wrongfully – We have prepared for those among men who reject faith a grievous punishment (Qur'an 4:161) ”
“ Those who charge riba are in the same position as those controlled by the devil's influence. This is because they claim that riba is the same as commerce. However, God permits commerce, and prohibits riba. Thus, whoever heeds this commandment from his Lord, and refrains from riba, he may keep his past earnings, and his judgment rests with God. As for those who persist in riba, they incur Hell, wherein they abide forever (Qur'an 2:275) ”

Dear Jameel Sahab
AOA
Thank you for sharing the noble words from Quran Al Kareem.
As a pre-condition to a interest free loan based lending, we need to focus more on honesty and credibility in our financial contracts and business dealings.

Ali3 replied on Friday, November 7, 2008 07:23 PM PST

All this is true, i don't argue about that. I'll just say in short: The so called "Islamic" banks in Pakistan is a new concept, started by the free masons, and is more un-Islamic than the conventional banking. It's a lie. Why it took 1400 years for this system of (so called) Islamic banking to be invented? Answer is simple: because it's not Islamic. Yes, these banks have stamps of approval from the grand muftis of Pakistan. By the way, does anyone know how much commissions/salaries they get for putting these rubber stamps?

arsu replied on Friday, November 7, 2008 10:03 PM PST

Jameel, i am extremely sorry to say that the interpretation which you have tried to do (as per your own wisdom) of the relevant verses of Quran is totally dubious and wont’t do any good to the people who are already confused on the issue. Could you give some valid reference that supports your interpretation about riba that it is specific only for person to person dealings only. Federal Shariah Court of Pakistan in a case Mahmud ur Rahman vs Secretary Ministary of Law clearly declared that “We are of the firm view that the interest charged on loans and given on deposits by the banks falls within the definition of riba and that it makes no difference whether the loan is taken for consumption purpose or for productive purpose, i.e for trade, commerce and industry”. It is strange to see how someone could justify interest in the Islamic social system, and believes that it helps reduce the inflation. Actual difficulty to understand prohibition comers from lack of appreciation of Islamic values, particularly its uncompromising emphasis on socio-economic justice and equitable distribution of income and wealth.

alpha replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 12:35 AM PST

Dear Ali2 and Arsu Sahab

AoA

Thank you for your interesting points.

Can you please elaborate on link of banking practices of free masons and Islamic Banking. The Hebrew Bible (Old Testament)contains prohibition against interest based lending and in some ways the prohibitions are much more strict. The slogans of socio-economic justice and equitable distribution of income and wealth in an Islamic Society are meaningless and are mere slogans in reality as seen in the disparity of wealth in Muslim countries and lack of social justice. My DHA brethren are developing palaces, while the Baloch earthquake victims do not have a roof on their heads.

May Allah give us more people who walk the talk, such as who created SKMH,and save us from those who just say "Zalmo, Justice is coming.." and do nothing.

Jameel replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 03:39 AM PST

Dear Arsu, my intension is not to convice people that certain type of interest is judtified the purpose is only to get light form others knowledge, which can help myself.
Fist of all I must say I am talking of Only Corporate Interest in which you are dealing with Govt or State Bank who have Facility of Devalue currency if needed.
This issue cant be resolved by debate, Neither other issue had been resolved in Last 1500 Years, As people have their own stance and and finally they walkout and make their own group.
The people who have some understanding of Macro and Micro Financial system and some "know how" of Islam had been trying to introduce Islamic Banking. Though others has been regarding this as a "fraud". Sorry to say there is no Model or Financial system on the Planet which is not interest based, neither any Successful theoretical Model exits, Nor we have any example in recent past where such a system existed [I am talikg after introduction of Paper currency and notes etc], There are no signs that Metal Coins currency system will replace current Financial system.[Honestly if it happens it will be really devastating] I tried to Collect almost all Ayat ul Quran on this topic and it looks quite clear that it denotes personal dealings in which one Person want to get benefit of other's difficulties. That is why Charity had been advocated.
Think about these Ayat

"God condemns riba, and blesses charities"
"If the debtor is unable to pay, wait for a better time. If you give up the loan as a charity, it would be better for you, if you only knew"

So your own understanding and "wisdom" has to come when you deal with this situation.

One refernce from previous Post
The issue is extremely controversial. Here is one reference which says a lot about it:
http://www.globalwebpost.com/farooqm/writings/islamic/r-i-consensus.html

The excerpt:
NOTE for fellow Muslims: Because this topic of riba involves what is haram (prohibited) and halal (permissible) in Islam, every Muslim MUST do his/her own due diligence and conscientiously reach own position/decision in regard to personal practice. In doing so regarding this matter or any other aspect of life, Muslims should seek guidance from the Qur'an and the Prophetic legacy.

"There is nothing prohibited except that which God prohibits ...
To declare something permitted prohibited is like declaring something prohibited permitted." Ibn Qayyim*

Shaykh Mahmud Shaltut

Shaykh Mahmud Shaltut () was an eminent Egyptian Islamic scholar. He was also the shaykh or grand imam of Al-Azhar University in Egypt from 1958 to 1963. Dr. Fathi Osman, in his book, Concepts of the Qur'an: A Topical Reading (2nd edition, Los Angeles, MVI Publications, 1999), p. 919, mentions the following.

"Muhammad Abduh, the distinguished Egyptian mufti and commentator on the Quran [d. 1905], considered the interest paid by the post offices for the savings there as lawful, an opinion later supported by Mahmud Shaltut, the former Sheikh of al-Azhar [d. 1962] Moreover, he allowed for the interest on state bonds, if the economic development and the individual and public interests require issuing them [al-Fatawa, 8th., Cairo: 1975, pp. 351-355]. Additionally, Shaltut agreed to any transaction with any fixed interest in advance, if it was offered by the Muslim state or any establishments subsidiary to the state or affiliated with it, as it assumed that there is no exploitation of either party in such cases."

Pardesi, Jeddah replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 05:38 PM PST

Dear Jameel
If you are only talking about corporate interest, then consider the sources & disposal of these loans & their flip sides as well:

• Deposits from commercial banks in SBP –coming from the individuals’ deposits in those commercial banks.
• Some governmental spending are also non-development in nature for which Govt. is forced to pay interest from its pockets & thus it tends to swayed away from spending on social work programs.
Thus the chain is :

Depositors - Comm. Banks – Central Bank – Govt. – Nation

Starting from depositors, in the light of above Ayat consider interest is haram only for individuals then depositors are not induced to keep their savings in banks, banks have little (but still have something to lend, see below) to deposit with the Central Bank (SBP in Pak), SBP will lend on more tighter terms to the Govt. The Govt. is forced to make spending as its duty while the nation will not be benefitted ultimately as the Govt. will take on development projects for which it can earn & pay-back loan + interest. (I am keeping fiscal & monetary policies aside for the ease of understanding otherwise the above formula will increase rate of taxes & also printing of currency notes will increase inflation).

In short, I am trying develop an understanding that anything which is haram cannot become halal under corporate cover {Individuals will resort to make JSCs to get bank loans}. Likewise, Intoxicants, Gambling, Adultry are haram on individuals as well as Govt level. Despite it is argued that Islamic scholars have not given us a complete banking system, I am convinced that it is the Muslim economists’ duty to give us a banking system of Islam, while the Ulemas’ duty is to assist them in formulating a just & balanced system.

There is a complete model on the planet of the earth by the name TMCL (Time multiple counter loan) ref post 40027. Consider the following:

• Suppose that there is no interest offered by the banks to the individuals:
o Money in circulation will be increasing deviating to profitable investments.
o Still people will deposit some of their money in banks from which banks can offer interest-free loans.
o Banks are also required to facilitate day-to-day transactions.
o They can charge fee of their services.

I hope, the above will help us to develop better understanding.

arsu replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 09:42 PM PST

Jameel, one can never have comprehensive understanding of such an issue merely by going through the literal meanings of the relevant verses. A thorough study of authentic “tafseer” is a must. Historic verdict of the Shariah Board that i quoted earlier is clearly telling that riba is not limited upto “person to person dealing”, but goes farther beyond that. An entrepreneur takes loan from a bank in order to start a business but unfortunately ends up in total loss. Bank would off course never share this loss with him. Does this scenario by any merits coincide with the teachings of Islam. On the other hand a financer has full protection and his money keeps multiplying. Further it would be better if we first establish what exactly this curse is rather that jumping onto other aspects like, whether do we have an alternate system, does it fully comply with Sharia, can it be termed as a true model of Islamic financing and so forth.

Adeel replied on Sunday, November 9, 2008 12:06 AM PST

Jameel Sb it is a very tough discussion and you will find people adamant to their stands. I believe that only a person understanding basics about both Capitalist system and Islamic principles is qualified enough to give some Fatwa on it. In any case it is an endless discussion:

Jaanta hoonh Jamaat ka Hashar Kiya ho gaa!
Masaa-il-ay Zahree mainh Ulajh gya hay Khateeb

Jameel replied on Sunday, November 9, 2008 04:38 AM PST

Dear Pardesi, Thanks for your input The Modern Financial system has many aspects and money things are interlinked,
The Key players are
Interest
Currency Value
Various Taxes
Inflation
Job Market
Trade Deficit
Other market Forces like Oil
prices
Emerging markets
And recently overseas workers
It is not even 3 dimensional rather it has 10 s of dimensions,
I know TMCL already exits this is a product not a perfect Financial system, it is usually given as an injection to boost slow economy and main contributor is mostly state Bank.
zero interest rate
Promotes Spending Economy,
Discourages saving,
increases imports,
increases Trade Deficit,
Increases inflation,
Helps creation more jobs
and creates difficulties for less active community like less skilled workers, old retired people, People on Flexible jobs due to some disability, widows Orphans etc , it does so by increasing inflation and decreasing income for above mentioned people.
At the same time Zero Interest sometimes also wipes the money of wealthy people like you and me, think about the scenarios
Zero Interest you Compel to open small business, too many business of that sort than needed and ultimately failure this happens so often,
Easy loans for making buildings too many buildings in pipe line than need Property Crash same may happen in Dubai Soon already happened in America when interest rates were low [imagine what could have happened if it was Zero Interest]
Same can happen to industry
So in the financial system you talk of any thing nothing is without side effects, and all are interlinked and needs checks and Balance.

Habib replied on Sunday, November 9, 2008 01:07 PM PST

I studied Shaikh Mahmud Ahmad’s Concept of Time Multiple Counter Loan is not in Place any where, it a theoratical model, I appreciate the efforts and intend of Sheikh, It simply says that If Mr Habib takes 100 Rupees from Bank he should return 102 Rs to the bank after one year and Bank should Keep 2 Extra Rupees with it for 50 Years and Return him at 2 Rupees at end of 50 ys.
It has many Flaws,
This is simple lay man calculation does not take into account 1.currency Devaluation,
2.Inflation over 50 years Point in two Rupees in year 2009 can do the same good job as it would do in 2059.
3. It does not insure default
4. It Does not take into account market uncertanties in long period, Risk and uncertainties are less in 2008 to 2009 than in 2009 to 2059. A practical model of Banking should take into account the above mentioned aspects and it should also be viable to pay salries of people,a dn investors interest,
If we do so many amendments in this above theoretical model then final product will almost same as that of Current Loan, The Product will be more comples if . Mr Habib want to pay in instalments to bank. So Ultimately product will be same you take 100 and you pay 5,6 more next year.

Pardesi, Jeddah replied on Sunday, November 9, 2008 03:02 PM PST

Just 2 quick points Dear Jameel

1. Too many businesses: Yes, but the self-correction will come when people tend to realise that they need to be more creative/competitive. Mere, money in circulation do promotes inflation but inflation is balanced-out with more business & job opportunities. Creation of property bubbles is just because of lack of other business opportunities available.

2. For retired/disabled/widows, etc. I would suggest to take the example of China having huge population including the above classes but everybody has work to do. Cottage industry, agriculture, fields of education, medical, etc. will be good places to work

nb: For retired/disabled/widows Islam suggests a system of social welfare.

Thanx. I really enjoyed everyones input.

FRIEND'S DEBATE replied on Sunday, January 2, 2011 04:24 AM PST

THESE ARE FRIENDS’ DEBATE:
WHAT IS RIBA IN ARABIC?
IT IS NOT EQUAL TO INTEREST. WHO HAS COINED RIBA=INTEREST? RIBA IS RIBA!

WHEREAS COMMERCE AND CHARITY IS ENCOURAGED AND REWARDED BY ALLAH SWT, RIBA IS CONDEMNED.

THERE MAY BE VESTED INTEREST IN COINING THE WORD RIBA=INTEREST!
It may be excesses, exorbitant, exploitations of persons in difficulties. To condone or write off Loans and advances folios if persons are NOT able to repay. In fact these practices are prevalent in Banks in India. In adverse circumstances often government also comes out with regulations comes to the rescue in these regards.
It is so much relevant in today’s context, as we hear the news of farmers and other persons doing suicides.

HOW TO RECOVER LOANS? If it is NOT recoverable what are the options?
Recover by EQUITY, evenhandedness, fairness, impartiality, justice, fair play.
Whereas the Person availing LOAN must be exemplary in Character, Honesty, Sincerity, Integrity, truthfulness, frankness, candor, openness.

Interest on deposits is same like dividend given out of profits of Banks. Deposits are like investments and kept for safety and liquidity and emergency needs. If the Indian government Banks coins the word dividend instead of the problem will be solved. After all it the depositors’ money which keep the banks’ running. And they should be TREATED AT PAR with equity share holders.

malik riaz bahria towm

Dear Bahria town alloties, Malik Riaz has done alright in developing bahria town Rawalpindi ph 1,2,3,4 etc, but, regrettably his present pace of work especially in ph 8, 9 and his most propagated awami behbood scheme of awami villas in Rawalpindi is far behind alotties satisfaction. In the initial phases of bahria town he made a false impression, but, now he is cashing that false impression to entirely his own benefit by utilizing the alotties money in some other business, may b abroad. He made just 200 awami villas n pocketed corers n corers of money of remaining alotties as no rptd no work on the scheme is going anywhere in Rawalpindi. So is the case with ph 8 n 9.By this delaying tactics he is getting double benifit. No 1 he is utilizing alloties money in some other business and No 2, he thinks, this delay will make him justifiable for extra charges from alloties as escalation charges in due course of time. The So called awami YES SIR YES Prime Minister had sumptuous dinner at malik Riaz palace in Islamabad soon after becoming YESMAN PM, there by keeping his mouth shut by feeding his Tommy n offering him free VVIP plots.Malik Riaz may b planning to similarly oblige others like the STRONG MR 10% and TERRORS of Punjab, Out Spoken Governor n Theesmar khan Chief Minister so that ex overseer have full protection for his malpractices. Malik Riaz! REMEMBER, the past dictators n present so called Awami, but actually ppl blood suckers may close their eyes on u r misdoings. But ALL MIGHTY ALLAH is there to do justice for ur foul play with those who have trusted u by giving billions of their hard earned money for their own shelters. Last but not the least , I request all the affected alloties to wake up n expose ex overseer malik Riaz at all levels through print n electronic media to compel him for timely completion of all projects. It is alloties to spk out bcos there is no such thing in our BELOVED PAKISTAN which is called govt whose duty is to safeguard the public interest!! !

There are lot of people who have lost money by investing in Bahria Town projects.
Intential dely in completion of projects by Mr. Riaz has put us in financial and mental trouble.
I read in the news papers that he has spent too much money to stop restoration of deposed CJ.
Can we do anything in this regard?
I think this post will not be deleted by simply calling it baseless charges.
The proof of these charges are many Bahria town affectees.

DHAI Vally, the nonsence

Let me be the first to say that these people who are lining up to buy plots in this project will regret it very much. I mean look at phase 2 ext, even that is not even properly launched, there is no map but people want to buy plots where they don't even know where there plot will be located.

These will be the same people who will be bad mouthing DHAi in 6 months time

Dear Arsalan,

May be you are right.

But I personally applied for one due to two reasons.

1. DHAI (Less chances of "Fraud" so for they have good name).
2. I have to pay in instalments which I can afford and not in hurry to build in near future.

I am sure there are many who have at least these two points in minds.

Regards

A plot in DHAI for about 7.5 lakhs payable in installments? You may have a good reason to conclude what you did, but my friend, I belong to a remote village in pakistan, and the
prices there are even three to four times than this one.

Why do you think it would be regretable? Is it how long it may take to develop, Islamabad is a bad place to invest in or is it a bad idea to invest in DHAI?

Dear friends,

I am not saying about DHA valley project but i want to say about DHA itself.
Really DHAI is very unprofessional, unorganized, unreallistic, unmannagable & unpredictive organization. They their self don,t know, how to mannage the things properly in a decent way.
Now we can understand why the peoples were saying from the very begining “that DHAI will loot the peoples especially overseas”.
May God save all of us.

brothers I do understand the point of paying in installments and hoping for a plot after a spacified time but everyone is regretting this move, people in BT Phase 8,9, Phase 2 ext DHAi, Formanites Phases 1&2, Phase 5 ext
DHA Lahore and many many more societies. I think it much batter if one saves up that money for as long as it takes and one should pay a bit extra for a on ground plot instead of trying to save a few lac and put all your savings at risk.

abj replied on Saturday, November 8, 2008 04:03 PM PST

Actually, a lot of people overseas are limited to CDA, Bahria and DHA, as these have proven to be secure comparatively. Its different if someone is there locally, and they can do all the needed research for other schemes, and then can visit ocasionally to make sure someone else didnt build their house on it. A lot of expats dont have that option, plus they utilize these to diversify risk and not put all their money in that particular risk. Comparison is to money in bank vs. a DHA/CDA/Bahria plot. Most are thinking a lot longer time down the road. All the DHA/bahria schemes you mentioned as losers will have a lot more people to bet on vs others at any given day, as the only down side could be the development time frame.
If someone is looking for a short term / quick sell, thats different. For that, most look at the stock market. So depends on what the goal is.
